Older drivers ftw.

Well its still not 100% because I ran two speedtests to double check.

What I did notice is the RJ45 connector actually has some wiggle when its set in the port. Fits snug, no wiggle in the adapter or other devices but wiggle in the port on the motherboard. So I still have to take this set up downstairs and try another cable.

Random thought while glancing over this thread, what speed is the USB adapter? 10/100 or gigabit?

Also, inspect the lan port on the board and make sure there is not a bent connector wire in the socket

Like the Metal Tab from the I/O Shield.

Yea FIOS is nice. Either that or comcast
Always firefox, don't have chrome on this PC.

BTW the last thing I want to do is have to RMA. My old PC just **** the bed and i was without one for 2 days and it drove me nuts, can't imagine having to go 2+ weeks without it. I won this mobo back in nov/dec from the twitch evga stream but never had the extra funds to piece together a CPU and RAM at the time.

So yea i am looking at everything and anything.

I would just buy a NIC card if all else fails

Well lugged the tower down to the 1st floor. Grab a 5e cable i had laying around and bingo. It works fine. I am guessing its the RJ45 on the end going to my PC. Thank god its not an RMA issue.

Although my vid card that stopped working might be lol

Now you know why I said to test with another Cable. Post #4
I have cables go bad all the time, but I do have a Cable Tester that I can use when I have issues.

So different cable + newer drivers work fine, or do you still have to use the older drivers?

Still using older drivers. I have to order a new cable and rerun it in the week. Its ran through thru an old duct from my 3rd floor down to the basement, across the width of that and back up to the 1st floor to the router. 1890s twin house...gotta be a bit creative running wire

Yea if I was down near the router it would have been the first go to swap cables but I had to disconnect and set the PC up back on the 1st floor next to the router. I am on the 3rd.

What I don't get is the cable works perfectly fine on the USB adapter. Worked fine on a laptop too. That is what through me for a loop and frankly I still don't understand that.

Well time to hit up monoprice for some cat6.

Update: Kept the cable but cut the plugs off and put some keystone jacks on them. Working fine now.
