Easy enough to look at EVGA's product page?

Elgato is trash, I would be surprised if EVGA quality and latency was worse.

I'm curious on how you came to the conclusion that Elgato is trash? Especially considering they're essentially the biggest player in the consumer capture card market. What exact Elgato products have you used and what issues did you find with them?

Because their cards are the lowest quality. They just have the highest brand recognition by gamers, which sucks nobody knows better than to buy their trash cards. Ok, I will admit I have only tested their HD60 Pro, but as the PCI-E card, this should be their best offering at 1080p and representative of what else they offer. Now I was only in the market for a capture card so I could play my Nintendo Switch on PC so I was directly concerned with image quality and latency. I borrowed a HD60 Pro from my friend and tried it out. It worked ok, their software was buggy. I noticed a degradation in image quality compared to when I had the switched hooked up to my monitor directly through HDMI.

While searching for other potential capture cards I became aware of the Avermedia Live Gamer HD2 and began to search for comparisons. This is the video which made my decision https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGq-MMwHAHE in which you can see the difference in quality in the side by side comparisons. Getting the Avermedia card in person confirmed the findings of the video and I had taken off screen photos for comparison (I probably could have just print screen screenshotted lol) of the most aliased images I was seeing where the quality was most easily identifiable, which happened to be the red X in the Xenoblade games on Nintendo Switch home screen.

After switching to Linux I had to find a new capture card as the Avermedia has no Linux drivers. I ended up with the Magewell Pro Capture HDMI which has even better quality and latency than the Avermedia and is absolutely the best thing available at 1080p.

So I am not sure how EVGA's cards stack up but my ranking is as follows for 1080p

Cream of the crop- Magewell Pro Capture HDMI
Great if you want to spend less- Avermedia Live Gamer HD2
    Trash- Elgato HD60 Pro

Wow I was curious how this compares to Avermedia and I had never heard of the Magewell Pro Capture HDMI.  Now I'm curious if this is external and how it stacks up to the eVGA and does the former only handle capture or streaming as well?

Elgato is definitely not "trash," you just have to be willing to spend money on the best of what they got. Elgato's 4k60 capture card is perfectly fine, but I am quite interested in this EVGA one, it looks pretty. I hope it's more than just looks.

I love the XR1 in terms of quality and latency but I end up using the Elgato HD60S because I can still game without using a passthrough HDMI because of its Game capture HD program that goes with it.

Is there a similar program I can use for my XR1 aside for OBS. So I can use my PC monitor as a display for my Nintendo Switch?

I was really interested in the xr1, but it seems to be more geared towards console game streaming, where the elgato is just great all around. For high end streaming elgato is the better choice. If evga releases a top tier one then i would definitely buy that over elgato , based on customer service alone.

XR1 will cover you in most situations.  There's not much difference between the two from what I have heard

I've been curious about the XR1 as well.  I'm a small PC streamer looking to add in some console gaming (or perhaps have a dedicated streaming computer once I build a new machine).  I can see the appeal of the Elgato "ecosystem" with the integration of a StreamDeck, lights, capture card, etc.  But the cost! WHOOSH!  If the XR1 (based on anecdotal experience) is a viable option, my curiousity is definitely piqued.

Side by side spec comparison would make this an conversation easier at a high level to be honest.
