it won't open. restarting doesn't help. uninstalling doesn't help. nothing helps. it opens and goes to the tray, but when i go to click the tray icon to open it, that icon disappears. when i try to install it, i get a warning that says "c:\program files\evga\precision x1\driver-x64.sys" i've tried selecting run as admin, and that doesn't matter either. i have the latest nvidia driver, windows update, and i was running version 1.07 and tried to uninstall and reinstall that and now i'm getting the error. what goes on?

Im guessing you just had a windows update tonight too. I made the mistake of letting windows update install KB4576945 Update preview for .NET Framework and I had the same issue. I somehow have it running again, dont know what combination of stuff I tried that worked. Still crashes with the same errors (Error id 1000, and 1026) when I run "check for updates" in settings, but at least its running. The error logs point to KERNELBASE.dll as the issue, so the .NET update borked something for us. As a possible way forward, I had to rename the driver-x64.sys file to driver-x64.sysBAK in order to delete it and reinstall X1. Seemed to start working again after that.

Just chiming in to report the same thing. Sometime this week (probably after the Windows Update) I started getting the same behavior.

System Restore is your friend, so is View Update History -> Uninstall Updates in Windows Update where you can right-click to uninstall most updates. You can set your internet connection as a Metered Connection in the Properties of your internet connection to put the whammy on most auto-updates..You can delay updates..You can use the Show or Hide Updates Tool from Microsoft to check for and hide, or unhide, most updates (including KB4576945) BEFORE running the normal Windows Update so that a selected update becomes invisible and does not ever get installed until you unhide it. The Show or Hide Updates Tool along with setting a metered connection works perfectly for me here.

Same here on a 2070s. Noticed it was not running this morning. Its not unusual for X1 to crash so i restarted it. However it wont start. Bit of tsing with no luck. Restarts and what not. Upon reinstall of X1 i get an error about c:\program files\evga\precision x1\driver-x64.sys I restarted, manually removed this file and then reinstalled with no errors. Yet X1 still crashes when ran. Seems tied to c:\program files\evga\precision x1\driver-x64.sys

So I normally dont let my system update like this, I just unpaused a couple days ago and forgot to pause it again. I tried uninstalling the update but wouldn't uninstall. I got PX1 working, so thats a plus.

Noticed the same thing here, it crashes immediately upon launch (either when logging in to windows or trying to start it manually). driver-x64.dll (or maybe .sys) in the folder is locked, so when it crashes some part of the program thread remains active & has the file still open (or just doesn't release it). So that will cause an uninstall or reinstall to fail most likely. I used sysinternals utilities to stop the program (procexp64) and then stop it from running on launch (autoruns64), rebooted to uninstall and installed 1.06 instead. I won't trust it to stay running, but at least I can change fan speeds before running a game as MW/Warzone won't tolerate stock fan speeds any longer as of the last update BEFORE s5. 98-99% GPU usage on a 1080 is no bueno, but at least I can keep games running again.
Win7 64bit SP1, 2x E5462 2.8Ghz Intel Xeon, 8x 2GB FB-Dimms (16GB total), Supermicro X7DWA-n motherboard, EVGA GTX285, 2x WD RE.4 2TB Hd's, 3x Seagate ES.3 Constellation 1TB Hd's, PC Power&Cooling Silencer MkII 960W PSU (~1 year old, replaced a perfectly functioning 750W PC P&C Silencer due to sagging 5V line when 2-3 Firewire devices were connected externally). Lian Li aluminum tower case (PC G70 modified) houses all parts...

so as an update, i have two machines in my house. they're both doing exactly the same thing. my main which is a 2080ti/9900ks and my living room which is a 2080s/9700k. you can open the program, go to the sys tray to try and bring the window up, and it just disappears. it does NOT work when you run as admin. the update isn't one you can undo as it isn't a main update. x1 is probably one of the wonkiest apps i've ever used, but considering everything in my main build is evga except fans, nvme, and ram, i want it to be controlled by evga software. plus, honestly i think it should just work... when can we expect a remedy on this?

Funny, just came to report this problem, and here we are. I don't let my system update automatically. I have my services and registry set up to ensure that it does not, and I'm having this issue with P1X.

As noted in my previous post, I don't do automatic updates, but I did just check for updates and I don't have KB4576945 available but I do have KB4576947 that does update .NET. I'm not sure what broke my P1X, but I figured what the hell, I'm going to apply the available updates and see if it works. If it doesn't, I guess it's off to afterburner.

Deleting the appdata EVGA folders (in Local and Roaming) makes it work again. That seems to be the only way I can get it to work. But I have to repeat it every time I restart my pc.

After deleting and removing it, try right clicking and choosing run as administrator. This additional step seems to allow it to work for me for the time.

OK, I found the problem. It is the auto-update feature. Workaround: 1.- Go to C:\Users\ YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\EVGA_Co.,_Ltd\PrecisionX_x64.exe_Url_ PLUS_A_LOT_MORE_CHARACTERS\1.0.7.0 Replace YOUR_USERNAME and PLUS_A_LOT_MORE_CHARACTERS with the values on your system. 2.- Open user.config with Notepad. 3.- Find the line that says <setting name="General_UpdateType" serializeAs="String"> and modify the line just below so it says <value>0</value> 4.- Save and close notepad. 5.- Start PrecisionX1 normally. PS: Doing the above disables PX1's auto-update.

I don't think a Windows update caused this problem. Mine started today and I received no updates last night. If you check Event Viewer application logs you will see the below. I don't read .NET but it appears it's checking EVGA's server for an update and it's returning an unexpected value and .NET doesn't know how to handle it. Then it crashes. Application: PrecisionX_x64.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. sonic352 Deleting the appdata EVGA folders (in Local and Roaming) makes it work again. That seems to be the only way I can get it to work. But I have to repeat it every time I restart my pc.
After deleting and removing it, try right clicking and choosing run as administrator. This additional step seems to allow it to work for me for the time.
you've mentioned this about half a dozen times already. it doesn't work.
