this is my rig im planning on getting the rtx 3080 and want to upgrade to a good quality power supply any suggestions please ive got some replies that my 700 would run new gpu but i dont want to ttake any chances.

    The EVGA 850 watt should be more than enough. The minimum PSU requirement for the RTX 3080 XC3 Black is 750 watts. However if you intend on adding more later you can also choose a 1000 watt PSU.

    +1....agreed. Plenty of overhead for reliability and longevity, youll be at the sweet spot running it when maxed out at the 70% of its total wattage which is where all psu's do best.

    Keep in mind the higher wattage the power supply the cooler it runs. A 850w using 700w will have the fans running often but a 1000w running at 700w is not really stressing it to the fact the fans need to run hard.

    The only thing that should be considered is it seems NVIDIA wants the 12 pin to be a standard in the future. It looks like we will have adapters for a bit but I am guessing built in support will come soon as the next generation.

    I have a 3900xt and an 850. I am planing on an 3090 Ftw3 and have no concerns. I am a little worried about Zen 4 Tbh But i think you and i both will be fine with 850.

    the Super Flower is a good platform, so is the Seasonic  , .. and I have not had any issues with several of my EVGA units.
    ,..and don't buy anything less than Gold rated , preferably Platinum or titanium .

    I got mine yesterday, i have one in a build now that i will be giving to my son as a gift as he is tired of his ps4. So i will be building me another system for myself
