I was looking into water cooling and it looks like now it is a ton easier than it used to be. that being said is it the move?

That is totally up to you. I've been water cooling for a very long time and I still enjoy it, particularly the results. It does require more planning, more time to build, increased cost, and a little more maintenance.

If water cooling fails it cant destroy your entire PC. If you aren’t prepared for that, then spend your time looking at some quality/quiet air cooling with proper filters to reduce dust build up.

If you build it correctly, test it correctly, maintain it correctly, monitor it correctly, then the odds of a catastrophic failure are extremely small. I've had three failures in well over a decade, all were pumps, and the last was over five years ago. I knew about them almost immediately. Just a matter of shutting down, draining and flushing, and replacing the pump. This is also why I have spare pumps.

Watercooling is fun, but very expensive. I have noticed recently that watercooling provides some improvement, but it has also gotten extremely expensive as the PCB’s have become more complex. If you are interested in watercooling, research everything you want, and match the components from a single vendor for the best results and longevity. It isn’t a requirement to match everything you can, but it helps your warranty with the company if everything comes from them. Make the decision if you are going to use any opaque fluids early, and be ready to monitor is closely. I did opaque fluids three times and every time it changed colors and became disgusting and also “stuck” to other components as well as falling out. Now I use distilled water and an inhibitor, and nothing else, because it’s just not worth it to me to deal with the opaque fluids. If you go watercooling and want to use RGB, make sure you know how to connect it and use it. I went with EKWB, and they use DRGB headers, and those header wouldn’t work with my motherboard, so I had to go out and find a completely separate controller for the RGB, making the setup even more expensive. Later I purchased the active backplate, and the RGB wouldn’t even connect connect to the blocks I was already utilizing, meaning I have to connect even more wires to the controller meaning more wires to figure out how to route. Aircooling doesn’t require any of these struggles, so this is probably going to be my last time watercooling, but only time will tell, because watercooling looks so much better.

^I tried opaque fluids once and never again. I clean and flush every six months and with opaque after six months it was a complete disassembly including blocks because of the gunk. Granted this was some of the early stuff, but it put me off all colored fluids, opaque or otherwise. Just glad I didn't use it in my wife's build.

I prefer air cooling due to the reduced risks and the simplicity. I think that a lot of people mainly do it for the looks, but I prefer closed, non-glass cases anyway (I prefer to look at pretty pictures on the screen, not the blinkenlights).

Up to you, really..Lots of informative articles on CPU and GPU Air vs Liquid Cooling and cooler reviews you can search for..There's good AIO liquid coolers that are more affordable and less hassle than DIY liquid cooling.
I went with an AIO (in my sig) to keep CPU core temps down because I always overclock.
As far as worrying about failing/overheating, I think everybody should have a program such as MSI Afterburner, HWiNFO, Real Temp, AIDA64 or whatever running where you can set alerts or to auto-shut down your PC at a user-specified maximum temperature.

It really depends on what you want? i started out using throw away AIO's for increased cooling/No maintenance and then Discovered AIO's that are expandable (AlphaCool Eisbaer) (Alphacool Eiswolf) out of the box improved performance with the ability to use the parts in a custom loop. Much better cooling as they use coper Radiator's vs the Aluminum most throw away AIO's use. I feel water cooling gives you more freedom to customize your build. If built correctly watercooling a pc is no different then how your car, or house use water. things can go wrong but proper planning and proper installation will minimize the risk involved. Proper leak test is the key. Use youtube and forums and don't be afraid to ask questions. These forums and youtube is how i learned.

If you want to keep it simple, with minimum risks of damaging your PC, you can use AIO cooling. Of course there are pros and cons for each type of cooling, mainly on AIO there is a limited lifespan of the pump. The temperature differences are of course notable, but unless your are really into overclocking you can also use an air cooler. It depends on how much your computer is on, the quality of the AIO and on luck. I most often see people arguing that it is 5 years of full-time.

7 Years for my first AIO (Antec), installed to an i7-2600K, year 2011. Rattling sounds for several months before it stopped pumping. Replaced it with CM Hyper 212 after. This is a 24/7 PC. It became noisy after the replacement. My second AIO is a Corsair (installed to i7-5930X), which is still serving me well since 2015. 5 years life span is good to say, and mostly their warranty is 5 years.
