Please report back on how the pcie card goes. I have been looking at those also but have not tried one yet.

Im trying a LSI mega raid that is sata3 and connects via pcie x8 but one issue i noticed is that is completely disables the intel sata ports.

I know my sr2 works with the xeons... but i didnt know my classified 3 worked with one... got a 6 core xeon for 28$ and it works great.
