Hi,

I have a EVGA X58 Classified 760 mobo and 2x GTX 480 video cards. I have the latest bios for the mobo and drivers for the cards, but for some reason in the nvidia control panel I do not see the option to enable SLI. What could be the problem here?

Thanks!

Follow this guide for driver re-installation.

One thing,  I put this build together with 2 GTX480s in there and installed the OS on it and installed the driver (for the first time) with 2 cards bridged together in the system.  It detects 2 cards, it's only the SLI option that is now showing up.  Should I still reinstall the driver?

Same here. Nvidia is pissing me off with these "Fermi" cards and their sub par drivers.

Follow boredgunners link as advised. best way to ensure no driver conflicts.

If I remember right there was an issue also around the update realtek nic drivers causing issue. If you roll them back or turn them off(if you have a NIC card) this would fix the issue. The thread is a little old but hidden deep in the forums.

ALSO make sure both cards are seen in the device manager. If a power connector is loose this can cause it.. double check your connections 1st.....

Power connectors are fine. No realtek, it is disable in the bios. Both cards are in the device manager.

Do you have another SLi bridge? That could be faulty

    What MOBO as well?

EVGA x58 sli. I took the bridge off to see if that works... it did not. You don't need the bridge for sli to work. Neither with it on or off does it work. Somehow the drivers are not giving me the option to sli. The cards are both working fine however.

Yes you do need the bridge for SLI to work. How else would it work? If I pull my bridge I no longer have the SLI tab option. From my TRI SLI gtx 280's to my TRI gtx 480's before I sold the Vanilla 480 this has been consistent.

Have you tried in pci-e slot 2 and 3 trying the DUAL sli and TRi bridges to verify it is not a bridge?

I've tried both the 257.15's and the 197.75's. Neither are working. I had it working and everything was going fine. Then, randomly with the 257.15's the drivers wouldn't load and I was getting a code 43 in device manager. Now, I get no code, but no option to sli in control panel. I have always had trouble loading sli in control panel since getting two 480's, never with the 260's, but it always comes around after a few reboots... not this time.

Call evga and ask them cable guy. I have ran this setup without the bridge and it works fine. As EVGA techs will tell you, it just passes more all the information through the PCIe.

No need to call EVGA :) You were right it worked, I just tried it. I am assuming newer feature from the latest drivers? previous versions always left me without the option so pretty neat to even get a message stating sli bridge missing..

now back to you almost points to a isse at the board not seeing the cards SLI-ed through the board then. Did you try mixing your a card in slot 1 and 3 of your PCIe slots? just to make sure there is not an issue with the 2nd slot?

i had that problem awhile back, and this might sound stupid but it worked for me.

hit the reset button on your tower and when the startup options come up choose start windows normally instead of fixing, that has fixed my problem a few times, might be a problem with windows or something but it worked for me so yea give it a try.

Now that I look, it probably is that realtek problem. I'll try it. I had the Microsoft drivers installed.

Yeah, they did that a while ago. I had a problem where sleep mode would not work with the bridge on. Called EVGA and they told me it wasn't even needed. However, I like using the bridge more.

Thanks to both of you! It worked! I thought you guys were talking about the Realtek sound drivers at first. I have the realtek on board sound disabled.
