BIOS 51 Updates:
  • Updates VT to correct issue with not enabling on specific setups.
  • Corrects issue where memory timings change after S3 resume on some configurations.
BIOS updating can be accomplished VIA the below methods:

CD/DVD Installation - Recommended installation method
  • Download the correct .iso file below for your motherboard:

  • Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, MagicISO etc.)
  • After it has burned, insert CD and restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Now set the CD Drive as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select CD as the bootable device.
  • After flash remove the CD, and power off PC Completely.
  • Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

USB FLOPPY Installation - Recommended installation method

  • Download the correct .exe file below for your motherboard:
         132-BL-E758-A1/TR - EVGA X58 SLI
         141-BL-E757-TR - EVGA X58 SLI LE
         121-BL-E756-TR - EVGA X58 SLI Micro
  • Insert blank floppy disk into drive and run executable
  • After the floppy has written fully, restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Now set the USB Floppy as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select USB Floppy as the bootable device
  • After flash remove the floppy, power off PC Completely
  • Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

USB Flash Drive Installation - Alternate installation method
  • Download the correct .bin file below for your motherboard:
         132-BL-E758-A1/TR - EVGA X58 SLI
         141-BL-E757-TR - EVGA X58 SLI LE
         121-BL-E756-TR - EVGA X58 SLI Micro
  • Visit this thread and follow the installation instructions. (thanks 30h6).

Warning:
**Do not restart or interrupt your PC while the flash is ongoing
**Do not Flash BIOS on overclocked settings

Still afraid to try anything that doesn't fix all the s3 resume issues.

    Thanks, but no thanks.

    Thanks for the post Jacob!

I had one brief question regarding the first bullet point of this X58 BIOS update:

Updates VT to correct issue with not enabling on specific setups.

Is there any way to disclose the particular setups you guys tested when implementing this feature? Is it an issue specific to certain EVGA X58 motherboards? Thanks in advance.

The last BIOS update had some issues with VT on some setups, this BIOS reverts back to the old method before these issues were introduced.

Only downside is the system will reboot once with VT enabled.

NOTE: For users who are using EVGA X58 Classified 4-Way SLI (170-BL-E762-A1) motherboard, and are running 4x EVGA GTX 285's in 4-way SLI mode, you will need to switch the BIOS jumper on the graphics card to standard GTX 285 mode for 4-way SLI to enable.

Does this mean now the E762 will also run 4-way SLI with 4 regular GTX 285s? or do you still need the Classified versions?

Still has problem with Auto VTT and VDIMM settings. If you leave VTT and VDIMM on AUTO and set your memory frequency to say 1866 then the bios will default a VTT of +250 (which is in acceptible range), but will set VDIMM to 1.8v in the bios. Not good.

I just installed this update, now I can't even get into the BIOS config menu, my computer just goes in an endless cycle of rebooting, I've tried pressing the reset button and the clear cmos button.

No problems with 51 with my 975 (Same voltages/frequencies as what I had set in S61J).   Verified that my 3D Mark Vantage with 2 x 5970's looks about on par with S61J as well.    So, as far as I can tell...

    i7 975 EE @4.27GHZ / 2 x HD5970 @980MHZ/1300MHZ
    eVGA X58 Classified 760 / 6GB Kingston DDR3 2000MHZ RAM
    1500 Watt Silverstone Strider PS / 8X Bluray/DVD Burner
    2 x 160GB Intel X25-M Gen2 SSDs / 2TB WD HD
    Windows 7 64bit
    Water Cooling - 1 Loop:
    Swiftech Apogee XT / Koolance Mosfet+VReg / 2 x EK Nickel-Acetal 5970 in series
    2 x Black Ice GTX360 / 1 x Black Ice GTX480 Radiators
    2 x D5 Pumps + EK Dual Top
    20 x Yate Loon 2200RPM Fans Push/Pull

    Still awaiting more positivity... XD

The last thing I need right now is another headache, and at this rate I won;t flash until bios 55 or so...

It's be nice if we could get the S3 issues, VT issues, double booting issues, Ram issues, voltage issues, and posting issues all sorted, addressed and taken care of. Seriously why keep on moving forward with new releases addressing things that aren't broken....while breaking others or leaving whats damaged/broken alone? I just don't get the game plan here.

Updates VT to correct issue with not enabling on specific setups.
Does this mean it will resort to older behavior of double pump if VT is enabled?

NOTE: For users who are using EVGA X58 Classified 4-Way SLI (170-BL-E762-A1) motherboard, and are running 4x EVGA GTX 285's in 4-way SLI mode, you will need to switch the BIOS jumper on the graphics card to standard GTX 285 mode for 4-way SLI to enable.

Does this mean now the E762 will also run 4-way SLI with 4 regular GTX 285s? or do you still need the Classified versions?

I to would like to know the answer to this question.

No problems with 51 with my 975 (Same voltages/frequencies as what I had set in S61J).   Verified that my 3D Mark Vantage with 2 x 5970's looks about on par with S61J as well.    So, as far as I can tell...

Running the Extreme pre-set, I am seeing a 10% drop in my GPU score using the 51 vs. S61J.  I rolled back to S61J.

I couldn't detect any particular setting that would account for this lower GPU score; from what I could tell the PCI-E slots were running at x16 2.0, and everything else was configured the same between the two BIOSes.  Weird.

    HD5870`s S3 Resume issue

Resuming from S3 will still set  bus interface of first PCIE 2.0 x16 Slot to PCIE 1.1 x16 (only Radeon HD5800 Series)

    After S3 resume...
Bus interface of first PCIE 2.0 x16 Slot changed as follows.

    Please solve this problem.

    Using-------
    EVGA X58 Classified 759 -- BIOS 51
    i7-920

    12GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD5870 CF

    1500w Thermaltake Toughpower
