I was really hoping that I would be able to skip the 780ti series after buying 3-way 780 classy's but if this turns out to be true.

I might just not be able to resist.

Any comment Jacob and Co?

According to the Guru3d article, it's might have 6 GB of vram and come with no voltage or tdp limits.  If this turns out to be true, I'll take 2.

Can we get a clarification? So there will be 780 ti Classified and then there will be 780 ti Kingpin? If yes, what is the difference between the two specs wise?

    Thanks

^^ Ok, so in other words there will be 2 SKUs anyway: Classy and Kingpin. Just want to make sure it's not the same thing

And my 480, and my 580, and my 680, the hits just keep on coming.(lol)
They're in the gpu business, do you expect when one card is coming out, they're not already working on the next, come on.

How else are they supposed to release new cards? You just want them to not put any more cards out because you just decided to purchase a card?

When I hear this I became crazy. So what???
NVIDIA is known to give 30% stronger card than Radeon launched before 1 month just like that, without reason.
Now soon after Ti, when they win over Radeon to launch one new card enough to play all games on 80fps.
You need to wait 2-3 hard games, thousands of rumors, summer to past and than easy... Maxwell.
And if they launch I don't look reference cards any more because with one card I have space for lot of heat.
Better ambient 55C and VGA 70C than ambient 35 and graphic 85C + noise.
ACX is 3 step up over turbine for people who play on single or two cards because everything.

Tells me something when someone claims to have flashed a 9600GT to a 9800. Just ain't possible, Clem. You might get away with changing the device ID but you can't flash shaders into existence.

Ahaa you probably know how I feel. But now is important only to finish this winter and Kepler story with something exclusive as GTX580 Classified.
Something different and I really don't care if Maxwell show up next week after that. I will play and OC that 20-24months before last Maxwell chip or first Volta. Better is last Maxwell and than every last and best chip and single card in generation.
I not hurry for nothing, first I want to see what AMD will show non reference, Classified Ti or something else anything only not same boards as other brands only with EVGA sticker.

Custom bios, obviously. Same clocks as 9800 and the ID for bragging rights. Just too lazy to overcook via soft or profiles. But hey, I don't trust random ppl on the internet either ;)

why would evga do this? i just pre ordered the  780 ti classified, this makes me feel as they no longer care about the customer, if i had known about this i would of got this instead.
showing a new card before one that is not even released yet is out! :( very bad showmanship from evga its made me disappointed as i have been a sole veteran with evga products.

I know right.....I still haven't forgiven Evga for coming out with a better card than my GTX285.

whaaaaat?! I still can't forgive them for making something better than my 9600GT (flashed to 9800) that I'm currently using. So many years, and still rocking. Tells you something about the quality you know

Tells me something when someone claims to have flashed a 9600GT to a 9800. Just ain't possible, Clem. You might get away with changing the device ID but you can't flash shaders into existence.

Even with a custom bios you just get the clocks speeds on the cores/memory, but as Heavy said you can't bring back shaders that were sliced off with a laser with a simple flash. Few cards from Nvidia have done that successfully, like the GTX 465->GTX 470.

Far as this new card goes it seems weird to have 6GBs of vram when your emphasis is on overclocking, more memory just makes it a bit more difficult to overclock and raises the price. I'm sure the power delivery system will be wonderful just like on the Classy's, who knows how many BIOS's it will have via a switch, but unlimited TDP can already be achieved. I've had it for months now on my Titans. I'd love to sell my cards though and get these instead, surely the launch price for this new card will be more then I would get for my used Titan's lol. Still going to wait till Volta though.

I will either find a way, or make one.

I wonder if they are going to put ACX Cooler on the Kingpin, and maybe some nice overclock with double bios? Most likely the Kingpin card will be the most expensive from the 700 series on the market but offer the best performance! Remember, the Vram really comes in a role if you are playing games on high resolutions!

One thing I will suggest you do, don't pre-order now. See the specs for BOTH cards when they launch and see the benchmarks between the two! If the Kingpin turns out the best, get it, but there is a good chance that the Classy will beat it, unless EVGA have the best OC on both cards and all options that are on the Classy (like the DUAL BIOS) to be on the Kingpin as well...then you will have the choice - you either get a Classy which is cheaper and with less Vram (3GB) and power/voltage limit or you get the Kingpin which will most likely make ur wallet cry.

Personally, I will watch the 3D mark performance and the FPS difference between the two and decide which gives the most performance, but I am pretty sure the Kingpin with that no power and voltage limit will have the best overclocking potential and therefore the best performance. Make sure, if you get the Kingpin, you get a good power supply and get ready to pay big bills for electricity (who cares anyway! There is enough oil and uranium for 20 more centuries!

Yes if card is some nice design than really worth to go on that.
That would be excellent replace for GTX580 Classified Ultra, when I miss that VGA
to play, overclock and put on shelf in glass box when came time for retirement.
Only it's very bad because many people prepare money for premium NVIDIA GTX7xx chip and
they will not enjoy in that because AMD need to humiliate NVIDIA customer to force NVIDIA
to give competitive performance with Radeons.

It is however likely, that the 6GB Kingpin GTX 780Ti will cost $999 and if it does, then i will not buy it in any way. It will only replace Titan this so...but if it is in a price range of the Classified, then why not? It will be a card for overclockers anyway and unless you are big overclocker that wanna go into the top 20s, then you might consider the 1000$ card...

Yup, this is the exact reason I actually waited on getting a Ti when it was first announced because I knew there would be custom cards soon to follow.

800 series out in a couple months, I would wait.

Only if the 800 series is 28nm. We won't be seeing new cards from either camp on 20nm until next summer at the earliest. Apple and Qualcom have bought up all the 20nm manufacturing at TSCM for quite awhile and they have much deeper pockets and easier chips to produce than NVIDIA/AMD do. 20nm won't be mature enough for high end chips for quite awhile anyway so we're going to see a roll out like this last time with the 680 being the flagship. I wouldn't expect huge gains over large die 28nm cards anytime soon.
