I am buying a 4770K for $250 today, and I will be looking for a motherboard shortly after. EVGA's Z87 Classified is still nowhere to be seen, and I've been thinking about the Maximus VI Formula/Extreme due to ASUS boards having higher resale value. The last board I was looking at would be the MSI Z87 XPOWER. I know it is $30 more than the Classified and Extreme, but from what I have read it is a great board. Any suggestions?

I generally have had trouble in the past with MSI. Twice. I'd contact EVGA support for an ETA on the Classified or get the Asus. Also, it's worth mentioning that if you do decide to go with Asus, most enthusiasts agree for this generation (VI), the Formula is a better board than the Extreme. It also looks nicer, anyways.

EDIT: Apologies, meant the Asus Maximus VI Hero. 47 reviews and 5 egg rated.

OK thanks for the input. The only reason I am hesitant on the Formula is because you are limited to 2 way SLI, but if it really is a better board I'd be fine buying it. It's a real shame that the Classified is so delayed though.

Well, I'm sure you know this, but 3 way SLI would rarely get utilized anyways. And likely cause more problems than not. The Hero is the way to go. I personally chose the Impact, but I don't ever want to SLI.

Well we've waited so long I'm considering going with the New Asus board with the Thunderbolt 2.

Do I look like a mushroom?.
No, then why do you keep me in the dark?.

I bought it on eBay. Guy had 2 at $275, I messaged him and he said he would lower the price to $250. He sold one at $275 and I bought the other, but he said he would give me the batch numbers before shipment and let me choose :P

EDIT: So everyone recommends the ASUS Z87 Formula? IIRC the EVGA boards are coming out with C2 stepping and the ASUS  ROG boards already have it so I don't need to worry about that.

There is only one ROG board that currently has the C2 stepping and that is the Impact.  The Formula started off with no C2 stepping but from what I understand, it is either shipping with the C2 stepping now or will be soon.  The Extreme, Hero, and Gene as far as I know don't have the C2 Stepping.

OK thanks. I saw a seller on amazon was selling the C2 Formula, (stated it was C2 in the title) so I'm assuming most of them out there have it now. I may contact their support for confirmation though.

Thanks! Tomorrow is the day I shall attempt to get through to a knowledgeable representative at ASUS (if I don't get any help from posting on their forum).

I got my formula over a week ago and it is LP05/C2.

May I ask where you purchased it? I'm probably going to buy from Newegg.

Msi XPower is a complete board but unfortunatelly they said me that the c2 stepping will be in a far future! The only c2 mobos available now are the Asus...Extreme is the best but doesn't have any sound card...Formula seems to be a great solution but only achieve 2-way sli...if I was you I would buy the Extreme plus a good sound card

I honestly don't think it would be worth my money spending $400 +$200 for a sound card when I could spend $300 and get both just without 3 and 4 way SLI support. I doubt I'll use more then two cards, and considering I upgrade my system every 2 years or so I don't think I need to spend all that extra money.
