Here is the responce that I got from Silverstone . About three weks ago my power supply would shut down when ever I ran OCCT< Furmark, Prime95 etc.
I called thier tech support and the person who answered the phone said that the PSU only had 3 rials not the 8 that are advertized. I did not get to test it due to 191.07 problems until last Saturday. I had just installed a new E760 and 2 295 co-ops checking to make sure that everything was OK I left the  plexi glass side panel off the computer. When I installed the panel it touched one of the Power wires to the video cards and the case filled with smoke. Both the mainboard and 1 295 co-op were burned and unrepairable.
Here is the responce from Silverstone.

Hi Spencer ,

EVGA Taiwan  have our ST1500 , so EVGA should test ST1500 with more high-level system configuration .

1500w power supply is enough to boot your system configuration list ,

ST1500 have

Over Current Protection
Over Power Protection
Over Voltage Protection

We sugget you do not  take apart panel or touch cable when system is running , it  will cause system short circuit .

Hi Neal

Here is my system configuration.
EVGA E-760 Classified
i7 920 DO
2 EVGA 295 Co-op
Hauppauge 2250 TV Tuner
2 OCZ vertex is Raid 1
Corsair Dominator GT 2000 C7 new build
Windows 7 Ultimate
Corsair HX1000W
single water loop

I have no plans to test this system outside of the case. The motherboard and the video card were burned badly at the PCI-E slot All the traces are burned off the Video card at the PCI-E slot. The only way that I would put this power supply in another system is if someone would pay for the damage. The motherboard and video cards were new from EVGA prior to the install. Earlier when I ran OCCT GPU test the computer would crash after 1/2 an hour and would not restart until the computer had cooled for about 20 minutes. That was with a i7 975, E-759 Classified and 2 295+s. At that time I called EVGA and they said to try another PSU. I called your tech support and they said that nothing was wrong and to keep using the PSU.
I am just starting to test the new parts and have not even started to optimize the bios yet or install anything other than the very basic programs.

Hi Spencer ,

Would you please run OCCT CPU or GPU without chassis .
How many 295 co-op in your system ? 2pcs or 4pcs ?
Kindly noted ,  when power supply overload ,
It can not boot (means start protect Mechanism)
Or you can list detail pc configuration and interior photo that we can test again

If you have any question , please be free to let us know

I have a 1500 that has been giving me problems for about a month. Original problem when running OCCT CPU or GPU tests the computer would shut down after 10 to 15 minutes. A second problem that I saw was when I installed the side cover or removed the side cover the video cards would shut down. The side cover is plexi glass. Today after installing Windows and a few other programs I replaced the side cover. As it touched  the cables going to the video cards the case filled with smoke. The top 295 co-op and the motherboard are both burnt up.
I feel that this power supply has had problems since I purchased it from Newegg but since it was supposed to be powerfull enough to run my system. I overlooked the problem except for one call to your tech support who told me that the power supply only had 3 12 volt rails and that all I needed to do was hook up each 8 pin connector to a rail and share the last 2 6 pin connectors on the last rail using different cables. Now today I have $1000.00 of burnt up equipment and maybe more as well as a power supply that will never get anywhere near my computer again.
Needless to say I am not a happy camper

It appears as thought they don't speak English and are using some sort of translation software.

I won't ever do business with them, and I'll remember to never recommend that PSU again.  I think I did to a few peeps on this forum before.

    Sorry about your luck

How did installing the side panel of your case short stuff out?  I am sure stranger things have happened.

I dropped those 109.7 drivers with the quickness.

Sorry to hear about your losses.  May i suggest returning it?  is it too late to return?

This PSU is only 3 months old and they are not offering a RMA. When ever I call they say that it is something that I am doing wrong and will not ake responsibity for there defective product. I started having problems a month ago and got a missleading response at that time. The tech said the PSU onlyhas 3 rails and that both 8 pin connectors hav to be connected to separate rails and the 2 6 pin needed separate legs.

        hey iride4u,

        It seems like you contacted the Silverstone main office in Taiwan given the rough English.  Try the US or European offices instead;

This started with a call to the US branch when the PSU started locking up any time I tried to run OCCT or Prime. I was told at that time that it was the way that I was setting up my computer and could not be a problem with the PSU.

Man i'm sorry you've had such a rough time with your psu. I always thought silverstone made good products. I rarely see a bad review of their products and I even have a 700w strider myself. I hope you get this matter resolved asap. Best of luck man.

Maybe threaten to report them to the BBB?  Sometimes that gets them to take responsibility...

Show them this post.  They may see that this forum is visited by thousands of enthusiasts every year......the very people that might buy such a PSU.  They might want such a thread to have a positive outcome for the customer.

        Here is a update.
Today I called Silverstone again today.
When I asked why they printed on the box that the PSU has 8 12 volt rails, but their techs say that there are only 3 rails the person on the phone said that it has 3 dedicated 12 volt rails for the Video cards. I then read the E-Mail responce that I got from Taiwan and explained the problems that I have had. He implyed that my case is too small. He also suggested that all warranty be handeled through EVGA Taiwan. I told him that EVGA was not at fault here (we argued) He finaly agreed to let me fill out a RMA request that was sent in today, no responce yet.

Now it hurt components??? Not good. I feel for you "Ride"..... I hope they do the right thing, and you dump that sucker off on fleabay.....

They aproved the RMA but do not want the cables to be sent in, even though the Taiwan tech said that it could be the cables. I sent an e-mail questioning there reasoning. When I get the replacement back it will be sold on E-Bay. I will not post it on EVGAs forums as I dont want someone here stuck with what could possibly be a bad unit in the future.
Update; Called Silverstone yesterday and they said that the reason they did not want the cables was so I would not have to rewire the case. The cables and the stinky PSU are on the way to Silverstone. The lovely smell of burnt electronics.

No update from Silverstone but you can also add a 975 CPU to the list of trashed parts. The cost of a bad PSU is now over $2500.00

Intel is warranting the CPU and I hope to hear something from Silverstone about the PSU late this week. I am still out a 295 co-op and a E-760.
When I calculate the damage I am thinking of the total damage. I will still lose over $1000.00 out of pocket.
I think that the big problem here is that Silverstone knows that they could have a problem with there PSU cables and has not done anything about it. What would have happened if I had a steel case without a window.

Good choice going with Corsair, definitely a brand of PSU that will last a heck of a lot longer than that PSU you had trouble with.  I hardly choose any other brand of PSU than Corsair at this point, and going modular is definitely a better way to go, imo...far more stable indeed.

I have a Strider 1K psu, Mine went south in less than 2 months of getting it. I called the US office and told them I heard a big pop and puff of smoke and it was dead. I asked for an RMA and heard nothing called again and they finally gave me a RMA to return it, and admitted they had a large batch with bad capacitors in them. I still have the replacement they sent and has been trouble free since. But I will not buy anything else from them again, you get a bad taste in your mouth after having that kind of service and disregard for making the mistake of buying one of their products. never again.

Latest update, Silverstone has had the PSU for over a week and still no response. This is beginning to look like the ASUS motherboard that ASUS lost.
Just remember that almost anyone can do a good job if nothing goes wrong. It is when something goes wrong that allows a company to shine.
        Silverstone is clueless.

The amazing is that they know that they have a problem with there cables and did not recall them. What idiots in this day, all they need is a house fire than someone will sue the company big time.
If I had left the room how much damage would have been done.

Thry are very stiff with a 6+2 then 5 inch pigtail with a 6 pin connector on the end. It is advertized to have 8 12 volt rails. But only 3 of those rails are for the 4 video card cables. To make matters worse each 8 pin connector can only be used by its self and not combined with the 6 pin connector on the end of the cable. If you want any sort of a clean instalation you must fold the 6 pin pig tail back against the main cable.
