Recently I completed a project (my first major mod) where I built a case from raw materials. Here is the log: I designed the entire case using Autodesk Inventor Pro 2011 Here is a back quarter view. I liked the vertical motherboard mounting style of the raven 2 so I decided to implement that in my design. I divided the case into thermally isolated chambers for the motherboard, power supply and optical drives, and hard drives. I will be using a 7in MIMO USB monitor which I have integrated into the case. The high school has a machine shop which I used to band saw the extrusion to size. I got a local machine shop to laser cut the plates. The 2 frame pieces are now welded: The plates have all been lasered. Here are some pics of the hot action. I'm also uploading a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd0PaFXRxIE I took the plates and just tried laying them out on the frame by hand. here are pics: parts that I ordered from performance-PCs arrive The motherboard tray is secured to the case with 3 screws and 2 L brackets with 2 screws each. progress picture The external disk drive and hard drive cages are now secured! Camouflage applied to plates and final assembly pic from front with lights out. The monitor is MSI afterburner showing info on my videocard

Impressive! One question though. Why not use "L" channel? It probably would have cut you weight by a 1/3 at least.

Very nice. The plate with the three fanholes looks like it's got a serious dent in it, though?

unhappyelf Isn't there supposed to be a cover around your usb monitor? Great Case, cant wait to see more pics of it. there is a cover. It's clear plastic so you can't see it. Animal67 Impressive! One question though. Why not use "L" channel? It probably would have cut you weight by a 1/3 at least. I used 1/16" square tubing. The L channel was just for the design drawing. Sorry I forgot to mention that @brazen: I removed the dent before I continued thanks for all the positive feedback guys.

how did you get the exact dimensions for the fan cutouts? I would like to know as I'm eventually thinking about eventually employing a laser etcher to cut some panels of my own. Awesome rig by the way
