This thread is so fail.

The HX1000 is fully compatible with all of Evga's X58 motherboards. Mine worked flawlessly with my E758, and is working fine with my E760.

The HX1000 is one of the best PSU's ever made. Period.

No offense, but that is just pure love for your PSU getting in the way of facts.  The HX 1000 is a very good PSU, but it is not better than a number of newer designs with similar wattage and efficiency.  I think it is time for Corsair to retool the HX 1000 as it is starting to show its age somewhat.  The HX 1000 is a far older design than the HX 850 for example.  I admit I also do not approve of multiple 12v rails.  I guess that is due to my PC Power roots.  I cut my teeth on their PSUs and now I won't buy anything without a single rail.  The HX 1000 is the only high end Corsair with 2 rails instead of 1.  BTW well stated garnetandblack.  That is a rock solid PSU.

Absolutely every electronic component or device ever made will have some failures. IIRC, I have read that ALL semiconductors average about a 2% failure rate minimum. It's simply the nature of the beast. Even a ball peen hammer can be defective. PSUs are slighly more complex.

Part of what you buy when you buy a computer part these days is the customer service and the companys willingness to stand behind their product. If you have a problem, I'll help. If it needs replacing, we'll replace it with no hassles.

FYI, for those that are claiming that brand "X" is superior to brand "Y", keep in mind that there are a limited number of OEMs out there actually building PSUs.

While that may be true, it's also true that these OEM's will built a component according to the build specs provided by the company wishing to have them built.

im having no real problems with my hx1000 other than one  sata cable is bad and the system will not boot with it.  All other cables and ports work just fine.  The cable that will not work on my hx1000 works on my hx750 tho.  Kinda strange if you ask me.

Uuuuhhh! mcj3671 that is not a great thing to have going on in my opinion.  The fact that the cable works on another PSU would tend to indicate your HX1000 has a bad rail.  Just my 2 cents.

Contact was not a problem because to do an extensive checkings before i turn off, every contacts was ok, no bad plugged cables.

My HX1000 is like 6 month old, bad luck for me because i cannot use RMA from Corsair since sending this to the US will cost me almost another PSU. So, now i am waiting for the Enermax Galaxy Evo to power up my PC again...

I'm running dual psu's in my rig a 1000HX and 850HX, both been running strong for a couple of months already.

I agree w/ Kelemvor about having a good ups or line conditioner so that it gets feed clean power.

I like the TT also, If I couldn't get a Corsair, I would probably get a TT, since it's only about $50 more, espicaly after reading

" Power supplies from Thermaltake are also manufactured by CWT and Toughpower 1,000 W and above units use the same internal design as Corsair HX1000W. In fact, internally Corsair HX1000W is identical to Thermaltake Toughpower 1,500 W – a model labeled 50% above the reviewed unit. The only difference between them is the use of multiple rail design on Thermaltake’s model."

...Thermaltake Toughpower 1,000 W – which curiously uses the exact same design of this power supply. Corsair HX1000W can be found, on average, by USD 235, while Toughpower 1,000 W costs, on average, USD 290 (prices for the US market).

I forgot to mention: I had no problems plugging things in W/CM Silent Pro 1000. But when I changed to the 1000HX, I was tempted to return it bc I had mega-trouble plugging in two old-style 4-pin power connectors to adapters. The sockets of the Corsair unit had the pin sockets too far off center in the holes, and they did not stay when I attempted to center them. I even tried to bend them into place gently, but to no avail. Unfortunately, I had already trimmed plastic off the 8-pin power connector in order to get it to fit in next to that Vreg heatsink. Finally after about 1/2 hr of messing with it, and the opposite pins pushing out of their sockets multiple times, I got the plugs inserted. I hate Corsair PSes.

wow... how could that be? i just had my first cosair hx100 die on me. actually, when i was building, i dropped 3 screws in there and it just kept on trucking. the my wc loop failed and dumped on the psu... just kept truckin. then i dropped another screw in it and i went of like a firecracker. no really, the capacitors vented thier charge into the air making that sound. besides that it was fine and went above and beyond what i expected. corsair FTW!

This looks like 24-pin burnout.  I'll go out on a limb and say that the PSU is still fine.  I've seen this same thing 2 weeks ago with a similar set-up but different PSU.  Also heard mention of this on another Classified board with multi-card set-up.  The PCI-E lanes seem to be yanking too much power from the +12V pin and it's going up in smoke.  I will venture to guess this is why some new boards now have auxiliary PCI-E power connectors, in order to keep the PCI-E slots from causing current overdraw of the +12V pins on the 24-pin connector.

......or I've gone crazy.

UPDATE:
Not crazy after all.  There is a thread by Shamino that confirms my thoughts.  Apparently it's only an issue with 3-4 ATI cards and doesn't happen with NVIDIA cards....for whatever reason.  Here is the link if anybody is interested in this.  http://www.xtremesystems....howthread.php?t=226942

If you guys are having consistent psu problems, you might consider a good UPS or just a line conditioner; I know when I hook my ac to an oscilloscope it's a train wreck.  Bad AC power quality can cause all sorts of problems even with a decent psu.

This is very true and not often mentioned. A UPS with AVR or a line conditioner will make sure the PSU doesn't have to work overtime trying to get clean power to your parts.

Wow this thread makes me nervous.  I had the TT 1200 when I originally bought the Classified but it did not work well. Read somewhere that TT knew they had an issue and had a fix so I sent it back to TT and they replaced it with a new unit.  My Corsair is working fine but after reading this I wonder if I should put the TT 1200 back in.  Although I have been trying to sell it for some money toward the i7 980x.  Hope all works out for you firerx.

Yep that's exactly it, you found the XS thread too.  I remember that original thread as well and Shamino specifically mentioned that's why he added the 4-pin molex to newer boards and that the problem only manifested itself with CF in 3 and 4-way configurations.  Apparently its due to the ATI cards overdrawing from the PCIe slot when they run beyond spec rated TDP, so when they push beyond 225W they pull more from the PCIe and start burning stuff up.  5970 should also beware given the 5970 has been shown to surpass 300W with any overclocking under load.

Should also be noted that's not an HX1000W issue, it'll happen with any PSU.  My first HX1000W has been running great for about 5 months now, no problems at all.

Re:How many Corsair HX1000's does it take? 2010/03/04 07:39:51 (permalink)
Been working Fine on the TT 1000w. I'm not sure why this thread is even still open. Situation was resolved.  As far ad the advice about the APC BAckups, I've had one on my system all along. As with anything, your going gto get some lemons every once in a while. I just chose to not play russian roulette with PSU's til I got one that worked. Some have impuned my computer knowledge with the comment "it must be the motherboard" mantra. I assure you it's not. BTW, this is my same original EVGA Classified 759 motherboard [with the certificate]since the release last March. With not a single glitch.

I just purchased a HX850, just decided to try it out.  I have to give Corsair good rating so far on packaging.  Very neat and professional packaging from the majority of their products.

The design of the HX 850 and HX 1000 are very different.  The HX 850 is a newer design with tighter voltage control and a single 12v rail.  The HX 1000 has 2 12v rails and is using older tech compared to the 850.  I have read reviews of the 850 that had it running at almost 1100w.  So there is some extra wattage available.

Specs:
HAF-X | ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 | i7 3770K @ 4.2 |  Corsair H100
Corsair AX1200 | 4x8gigs G.Skill Trident-X 2400 | 2 x ASUS DCUII GTX 670 | Intel 320 600gig | 3 x 27 inch monitors 2D Surround | HT Omega eClaro | Onkyo 7.1 receiver with Polk Monitor Series x 7 & 12in Sub | Denon AH-D5000s

Meh... another victim here... I Trifired it (3 hd5870) and then the next day my HX1000 aparently died... or do weird things... I turn on directly with out nothing just then work, i hook my mobo, 1 vcard, and everything necessary to boot then my hx1000 don't boot.

So i checked the plugs and i found this:

Soooo lucky my MOBO 24P is not burned.... i was using and 24P extension that i did a sleeving job...

FYI, we do have global shipping points outside the USA for RMAs. If you want to fill out an RMA, get the address, and calculate shipping, try this link: http://www.corsair.com/helpdesk/default.aspx

Sorry you had an issue. I too am glad your 24 pin socket is OK.

After 16 months of hard running my crosair hx1000 ran into intermittent power failers. It happens with all electronics.
Corsair has great products and great service and crosair has no problems in replacing it.
