thanks for the new bios chip my pc is running great my fans were running a little slow. that was my fault I did not let the corsair link control the fans now it runs top notch. your support team is wonderful that's why most of my pc has EVGA parts

Best Motherboard Company out their on top of Support. And we still have members who think EVGA Motherboards Suck. and use cheap low grade components.

my pc I built 7 years ago 730i/9300 is still running today. I was using it the last two days with windows 8.1 running rock solid.

I'm curious. How did the process of getting a new bios chip go? Were you require to ship/mail the one that came with the board prior or after receiving the new one? Costs? I'm pretty much new to the shipping platform after deciding it's time to order things and do stuff on my own now.. EDIT: Unfortunately, I will not be receiving a BIOS chip. Instead, I have to send my Z170FTW for RMA....

well yes I had to send the old bios chip in. they gave me a self addressed envelope with the proper postage. I am sorry you have to send your board in for an rma.

Did you receive any instructions on how to replace the CHIP? A special kind of tool with this?
I picked up my i5 7600k processor along with the LPX 16gb 2666MHZ RAM yesterday and assembled my machine just for testing purposes but gotten the error code 62.
This was kind of expected, buying the z170FTW motherboard from amazon a week later after the Kaby Lake supported BIOS came out.
Support apologized for the confusion , and confirmed that they will be able to send a chip, thus I no longer needed to send my motherboard. The request has been put in, pending a few business days for the item to be shipped. Hopefully I can get this soon to setup my freshly machine up for my BD.

the instructions I got were on a piece of paper it just shows me where the chip goes and I just used my fingers to grasp the chip and put it in place.

just to let you know as a note of caution. if by chance you put the bios chip in wrong. dont put your fingers in the system right away just power it off let it cool down. you can burn the tips of your fingers the chip gets hot when put in wrong follow instructions they give you to the letter.

Hi rsabatino, I'll probably get this today or next week. But I have another question, what happens if the BIOS is not inserted the right way? Would I get a beeping error or so? EDIT: Gotten this yesterday, followed the instructions and PC booted fine. Tomorrow I'll buy a usb keyboard as I forgot that the z170 only uses that. Then I'll proceed with the fresh install of W10!

like i said before if you put the chip in wrong you will still get a code and the bios chip will heat up and if you try ti remove it you will burn your fingers.
