I've had this PSU for nearly two years, but in the past two months it's been crashing.

At the moment, I can only keep the machine up for 30min-12hrs. Inspecting journalctl (I'm running Fedora 31) shows no error messages; the logging simply stops at the moment of the crash, which definitely implicates the PSU.

My video cards (Aorus GeForce GRX 1080 Ti) flash white, signaling insufficient power; however, the voltages seem within the normal range (3.28V ; 4.96-5.03V ; -11.89V ; 12.14V).

What should I do next?

Sounds like the video card may be the issue. I’d try testing the video card in another system. If the video card works fine in another system i would try another psu.

    Hmmm. That's an interesting idea.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other video cards I can put in the failing machine, nor any other machine I can put these video cards in.

And the fact that there are two of them complicates things: It seems unlikely that two video cards would fail simultaneously and only intermittently.

However, I can do an A/B/A+B test and run the machine with each video card singly and see what happens. Can't hurt ..

    Thanks,
    Fred

I tried switching to a single video card; at first, the machine wouldn't boot up at all. Then I switched the power cables with the set I was no longer using, and up it came.
So I thought I'd found the problem.
    Then it crashed ...
I still see no problem indications in the system logs, nor in the xsensors output.

Thanks, but that won't help me. I run Linux (Fedora 31), not Windows, and nothing in the (voluminous!) system logs seems to indicate any problem.

Hard to pin it on the PSU to be honest but it could be. You aren't running the most popular of OS's so it may be some niche issue you're encountering. But having said that, your PSU should have a 10 year warranty if you registered it when you got it so an RMA should be relatively simple.

So it crashed again with only a single video card installed? Does it also crash the same way with only the other video card installed by itself?

Yup. Crashes with either and crashes with both.

I haven't tested the "with none" case, though ...

Sounds like you’re gonna need to test one of your cards in another pc to see if the issue will follow.

Alas, my only other machine has only a 500W PSU, so I'd have to move both the card(s) and the PSU, which would rather defeat the purpose.

OTOH, that might eliminate the motherboard as a suspect.

Well then take one of the cards to a local pc shop to be tested, or start replacing components with new ones to find the problem.

If its still in warranty, I'd just RMA it
