The big issue with SSDs right now is that -many- major manufacturers are taking existing modes that are well tested and swapping the controller module with something that is generally inferior. This means that the reviewed products aren’t actually what you are going to get in some cases.

The difficulty for manufacturers is that the supply of components is low, so they seem to be forced to switch components to those they can get. However, I get the feeling that they are also taking advantage of this issue to put cheaper components in their products, while giving reviewers the faster ones.

I choose Samsung but WD has good disks in the top segment.

I have an old 60GB corsair, and also a 240 GBP Kingston on which I installed my OS. I do fancy a Samsung though, and will move to that on my future build.

I'm using a 1TB PCIe NVME by Silicon Power (SP), which had plenty of good reviews and was the cheapest option on Amazon. Seems solid enough, and leagues faster than my SATA SSDs.
