i just installed a r5 5600x and love it. who else is running a 5000 series cpu and what kind of memory are you using and why? i have gskill ripjaw v 3200 16 gig. but i see there is ram thats says amd ryzen like this.

G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin RGB DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C18Q-32GTZN - Newegg.com

im thinking of getting rgb and going to 3600 so would like to get some nice ram without breaking the bank.

It's always better for overclocking &/ or compatibility to use 2 sticks .  Easier to get better timings and speed in general from the memory controller.  (AMD especially )

for the AMD 3000 & 5000 cpus - 3600 / 3800 speed ram are best ratios to use for the 1:1 infinity fabric clock speeds  .  ( 3200 speeds are for most Intel processors best linked speed )
I'd stick with the Neo z series for AMD , like this set - https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232858

omg 128 ram are you doing other things besides gaming.   the 5600x has taken me to exactly where i wanted to be as far as gpu performance %  and fps has increased nicely more then what i thought and it stays more steady now so the 300 bucks for r5 5600x was great for the budget and i got the performance without breaking the bank.

I just dropped a Ryzen 7 5800x in my machine from my previous Ryzen 3600 - CPU was on a great sale locally, and couldn't pass it up - only been in a day.

Today it's time to upgrade from my Cooler Master 212 Evo to a Dark Rock Pro 4 with my Meshify C case. The CM Evo is such a workhorse, but with this CPU a little extra help couldn't hurt.

Knew the temps on these CPU's were going to be much different, sheesh, reading the panic on the temps of these CPU's was kind of fascinating. AMD clearly explains the design and power structure of the CPU's, and as a result, much more power, smaller surface area, aggressive performance scaling results in higher temperatures that cap out at 90C - totally normal in other words, but people just aren't used to seeing these temps!?!

I'm seeing mine Idle at around 35/36C, Ryzen Master shows the typical jumping temps if you move your mouse, long gaming session I'll see 65-77C and then a rapid cooldown.

The 5800x is an absolute beast, great CPU to pair with the EVGA RTX 3080 ti FTW3 Ultra....as was mentioned, at launch, this CPU was an outlier via price/performance, but as with the 3700x, prices have dropped considerably - $500 Cdn 5800x vs $1000 Cdn 5950x and this was a great deal so went for it.

I'm having a similar experience on my 5800x. Running a scythe fuma 2, under full load in cinebench r23 getting temps like 87-88c. PBO is enabled. This is to be expected, 5800x runs really hot. However, these temps are also within AMD's spec, and it'll throttle at 90C anyway. I almost wish I opted for a good liquid AIO instead of air cooled, but I don't mind that much.

As far as RAM goes, I'm running some G skill ripjaws V 3600Mhz Cl16, just on default xmp. Timings are like 16-19-19-39 or something. I'm running 1:1 1800mhz fclk, but I can't tell a difference.

Yes, it's just amazing to see thread after thread on Reddit of people losing their ****e over these thermals when all the info is right there that this is normal for these CPU's.

normal or not i chose to stay away from higher temps and chose r5 5600x which im glad i did and performance is better then i expected. heres warzone.

Completely fair choice, warzone seems more GPU dependent.

Because REAL hardware nerds don't read whitepapers.

They just spit and bailing wire everything together.

And, if they're feeling unusually industrious, maybe a bit of bubblegum.

    And everything JUST WORKS!

    Right?

    Sigh...

Yes, some things never change, and installing CPU Coolers remains one of them, I loathe doing it....lol.

Have to say, this Dark Rock Pro4 is keeping the Ryzen 7 5800x at 31C idle 60/65C in game, which is a bonus, but absolutely no fan noise at all, sheesh, brand is be quiet, they really meant it.

Did some testing, getting some better results as well, able to sustain higher clocks, read some interesting comparisons saying this holds up comparatively to a 360 AIO, with the AIO obviously coming in around 3C better across the board.

But this processor is a beast, glad I got it on sale and 25% off....the build is now done.

LOL - I'm far, far from a hardware nerd. I'm 57, retired two years ago, a laptop has been my machine for the last 10 years, 860m GPU, been at least 13 years since I built a PC, maybe longer. When the salesperson looked at me with shocked eyes that I wanted to purchase 16Mb's of RAM and it cost $700.00.

But it was a learning experience to build from scratch again, so much has changed, but it's been fun, but I'm glad it's done for now...until I invariable notice something else the can add to my OCD lol.

    Thanks....:-)

I am.  Been building systems since it's been possible to self-build.
Liquid Nitrogen, full immersion fluorinert, and every other hackish thing possible.

And yeah.  After I left the Army in 1994, I dropped $500 on 4MB of RAM.
It made sense at the time, but I look on it now and *CRINGE*

Does anyone know if the newest ryzen cpus are still optimized for only certain ram dye or did they finally get everything sorted out compared to the super early on ones like the 1000s/2000s

i have a msi b450 tomahawk max and its great never an issue even updating bios and dropping the 5600x was a breeze but i hear 550 boards are better and the price has come down like 40 bucks on this so would it be worth it to change out because of the 5600x.

The way Infinity Fabric ties everything together, it's a bit tougher to just grab any random RAM and overclock it.
