bought a xeon x5660 cause i am going to upgrade my brother pc as well with my x5650.
5660 runs fine @ 4.5ghz

Very cool, I thought i was alone in trying to keep this platform alive. Although i don't have anything EVGA but Asus and an old 4870 Saphire card
 
The Xeon can be OC-ed as easy as yours but i don't really need it so i left it stock, i read that i can up the memory to 48GB (like you have) even on my standard P6T but cost/effort vs result is hard to justify i think but am curious what you think.
 
Am always thinking I'm crazy for wanting to pump more money in this 10 year old system but it just keeps going and does all i need. Truly the best hardware investment i ever made. I will just run it till it dies and even then replacing parts would be so easy
 
You have given me some good ideas on some further upgrades - like the m.2 950 pro as a boot drive and a worthwhile venture. As i am not gaming i have slightly different needs in GPU am eyeing up a used Quadro P2000 but they are still quite pricey. I do have a lot of drives, bit of a mixed bag really but storage is storage, about 16TB of usable space as i also use it as a plex server, have an external 4 drive bay connected as well via USB 3. 
 
Case is a Fractal Design R4, it has nice sound padding in it, came with quiet fans though not Noctua quiet but I only replace them when they start to make noise. Noctua's are awesome though my CPU cooler with that fan has been running for 10 years 24/7 just unbelievable quality

thanks.2070 is a monster i can play ultra high 2560x1080 on all games 
xeons are giving nice boost on older systems
if i can keep up ,imagine your pc which can take a 14core xeon ;)

didnt push much the cpu.but good results in games.

The X58 platform was in my opinion one of the best Intel ever made. Glad to see these old builds continue to give great results and pleasure.

you can still play 1920x1080 on high with lot of games ,especially if you have xx70 series vga and up.if you have parts to build it ,worth it ,but its not worth to to buy all the parts for a x58 pc.

was/is my first aluminum case,behind the motherboard there is not lot of room to hide wires ,etc but it can be done ,have not found yet something to like more so i can replace it.
