I got my revodrive working no problems. Now I have been trying to set up my velociraptors in raid 0. I have the latest bios. when I set sata to ahci everything works except i cant seem to get into the raid setup. when i set to raid i can get into intel raid and it sets up the raid but it will not boot anymore from the revodrive. check the bios and it reads my hdd as scsi connection and i cant see the revodrive. any help would be appreciated. thanks

In bios go to integrated peripherals  then on board PATA/SATA then set SATA to raid, exit bios now when screen comes up for intel raid configuration press Ctrl and the letter I that is where you set up your raid.
Don't worry any drives not part of an array will be fine.

I did that and that is where the problem is. the bios sees the hdd's as a scsi connection and does not see the revo drive in the pcie so it won't boot

What you probably did was install windows on the revo while sata mode was set to ahci, or IDE,  then installed the Segates and changed it to raid, this changes a regester setting and prevents windows from booting your options, Remove all the drives, except the revo, go into BIOS and set sata mode to raid, load windows on the Revo, then power down, connect the seagates, boot and controll I, select just the segates, and config, exit and let it boot, then right click computer, select manage, storage, disk manager snap in, and assign, and allacate the raid, which will change it's color from black to blue. there is also a reg edit fix you can try. a Google search should find it.

Thanks for the help KMoore I did it that way and it worked fine until I connected the hard drives . then the mobo wouldnt see the revo. But I kept at it and this procedure worked for me with raid 0 and might just work on other brands of x58's not just evga classified 3 E770. And I don't know about if mirrod and other raid setups work.
First have only the revodrive connected. In the bios set the sata controller to AHCI and then hit F10. Make sure you have downloaded the revodrive drivers from OCZ and put them on a flash drive. Put the win7 install disk in the cd rom and start windows install.
Now windows will not see the revodrive at first so plug the flash drive with drivers in and push load drivers. Then continue with install. Install all necessary drivers, chipset, video,LAN all that. Then make sure to install INTEL MATRIX STORAGE MANAGER. This is very much needed for windows to see the drives as one drive. After installing all the basic drivers you need restart into the bios. When in the bios set the sata controller to raid hit F10 to save and restart. Now the revodrive will not show up at this point do not worry. When prompted at the intel raid screen hit (ctrl + i ). This is the case for the evga it might be slightly different for other boards. Go ahead set up your raid configuration and exit. Then when restarting go back into bios and set the sata controller back to AHCI hit F10 to save and restart. Once windows has started go into disk management and allocate and format the new drive.
So that is how I got it to work so I hope it helps others.
I think the problem lies in the intel raid setup it auto sets the array to bootable is there a way to turn this off? I could not see how. I believe if that can be turned off this would resolve the conflict. Maybe EVGA can address this in the next bios release.

Spot on! I was having the ame problem but fixed it with KMoore's advice. It took a couple of boots to get it right... but ultimately unpluged my HHD's... set BIOS to RAID... started windows on the Revodrive... shutdown... plugs in the HHD's.. and it worked.

Note: I had already built a Raid10 array.. so I didn't even have to go into the raid config.

    Hi,

It's not possible to do RevoDrive X2 and two mechanical drives via hardware raid.

I had the exact same issue as you. I had a 100gb RevoDrive X2 and two Western Digital 1TB drives for storage i wanted in RAID 0. Well it would only see one device in the bios, either the RAID or the Revodrive.  This was on a Classified 3 E770

I contacted both OCZ and EVGA tech support numerous times. In the end it just wasnt possible. I ended up returnig the RevoDrive and getting a Vertex 2 as boot :( Yes a lot slower and so sad to see the RevoDrive go, but oh well.

MPR86... that's strange.. because I have successfully setup a RevoDrive X2  as the boot system drive and 4 hard drives in Raid10 (using onboard Intel raid controller) as a project drive.

I've successfully done this on both a Classified3 E770 and the older Classified E760.

hmm u sure? i tried and tried, and wen to to tier 2 tech support at evga. in addition OCZ directly contacted the engineers at EVGA to see if it would work.

ahhhh why did I return it lol. so u have RAID 0 via the actual onboard Intel controller and not a windows raid0 setup?

    Also I took this advice:

BIOS SETTINGS FOR USING REVODRIVE X2:

Also,  recommend you use the third slot and change your BIOS to the following settings, if you haven't already.

    PnP/PCI configurations menu
    INT Pin 3 Assignment = 10
Reserve RC for bridge = enabled
    Maximum Payload Size = 4096

You might want to share what you have done exactly to make it work on the OCZ forums.  They are indeed insistent that this is not possible because of executable option ROM size on traditional (non UEFI) BIOS.

I would love to hear detailed steps how you have done it.

Install Revodrive X2 in slot 3 (make sure no other hard drives are connected... set BIOS to AHCI... boot Win7 install disk... load the Revo driver as required... continue to install windows as normal, and install http://wikidrivers.com/wiki/Intel_Rapid_Storage driver.
...once install is complete, restart and change the BIOS from AHCI to RAID... save and restart Windows. When it reaches the desktop you will see windows self install a new driver. Once complete Shutdown. Plug in HHD's... turn on and go immediately to Ctrl+I, setup your Raid. Boot Windows as normal. Both Revo and Raid are working perfectly.

Additional: for ultimate Raid performance, go into Intel Rapid Storage controller, click Manage, Advanced, do the Initialize, and when complete do the Verifiy... you only have to do this once (yes it takes a long time! but it's worth it!).

Further: Speed up Raid startup, In windows Start type Services, and find Intel(R) Rapid Storage controller, right click, properties, change Startup type from Delayed Start to Automatic.

Interesting...mpr86 try it and let us know what happens.  If this works we can probably post it on OCZ for other Revo users that have the same problem.

time to order another revodrive lol..

btw.. when I had the revodrive, the thing would shut down too quickly and upon starting up the computer th next day I'd get erorrs and windows would have to scan the disk before booting up.

Is there a fix for that?

Also, my 3rd PCI slot is used for my two way SLI. Cool to use PCi slot 2?

time to order another revodrive lol..

btw.. when I had the revodrive, the thing would shut down too quickly and upon starting up the computer th next day I'd get erorrs and windows would have to scan the disk before booting up.

Is there a fix for that?

Also, my 3rd PCI slot is used for my two way SLI. Cool to use PCi slot 2?

It was almost impossible to catch the Ctrl+I Raid Config screen the first time, boot up time was sooooo fast! In one install I actually had to unplug the Revodrive so I had time... later I found if I just kept tapping Ctrl+I from start up I got it.

As for other slots... I have no idea... I read slot 3 somewhere on this forum and since I'm only using one Graphics card (I plan to use a second) it was fine for me.

    i7 980x (OC 4.12Ghz), EVGA SLI 3 Classified E760, EVGA GTX580 OC version, OCZ Revodrive X2 240GB, 4TB raided hard-drive (4x WesternDigital BLACK 2TB in RAID10), 24GB RAM (2x 12GB Triple Kit's TeamGroup CL7), CoolerMaster V8, CoolerMaster HAF922.

Just to add a little extra info:

I tried this procedure with an X58 SLI 3 and a 240GB RevoDrive X2. It didn't work--meaning, the final part, after you've plugged the RAID drives back in and it should just boot? It doesn't.

However, I did notice an anomaly while testing. While in AHCI mode, and after installing the Intel RST driver in Windows, I noticed that my RAID arrays were showing up in the Intel software and were also available to Windows. I made sure--I was actually in AHCI mode when this worked. Since I don't need the RAID drive to be bootable this seemed perfect--I'd get the RAID arrays but wouldn't have to worry about boot issues.

Of course, when I continued the guide and set it to RAID mode/unplugged the drives, etc., Windows didn't see any RAID arrays at all anymore--because they were unplugged. And when I plugged them back in, I got the "Windows is loading" bar that you usually don't see (before "Starting Windows"), and then the computer auto-rebooted.

It is worth noting that I also set these things:
    PnP/PCI configurations menu
    INT Pin 3 Assignment = 10
Reserve RC for bridge = enabled
    Maximum Payload Size = 4096
And that did not seem to change anything.

So now I'm trying to retrace my steps and get the RAID arrays to show up in Windows while the ICH10R is in AHCI mode.

OK, so I got this working with the BIOS in RAID mode and my arrays are showing up successfully but it only works on the first boot. I tried one million times (exactly) to get Windows to boot properly in AHCI mode but it would take 4-5 minutes for it to boot, so I knew something was wrong.

Eventually I unplugged all the RAID drives (I left the SATA DVD burner in), set the BIOS to RAID and rebooted into Windows--Windows started normally--very quickly--and without issue. Throwing caution to the wind I then hot-plugged the three hard drives of my RAID 0 array and told the Intel RST software to re-scan for drives. It detected my two arrays but said they had failed. Knowing my hard drives are totally baller and not failures I didn't panic. It wanted me to "set status to normal" but warned I would risk data loss so I was like, well, **** that. Then I just rebooted normally and by some miracle Windows just started.

So yes, it is possible ***spoke too soon, see update below***. And goddamnit, I'm not sure I understand how or why.

Edited with new information. See next post.

I definitely spoke too soon. It worked ONCE. Then I rebooted and it didn't work anymore--meaning I'm having the same issue as before:

"I got the "Windows is loading" bar that you usually don't see (before "Starting Windows"), and then the computer auto-rebooted."

However, if I repeat the process of booting into Windows with the drives unattached, plug 'em in, let Windows configure the devices, and then reboot, all with the BIOS in RAID mode, it boots successfully.

In other words, there is something about the difference between the first reboot and subsequent boots that causes it to fail. Does anyone have any ideas?
