Hi, Just received a 450BT.  The big honkin' power cable (P20+P4) -- there are no markings on the p4 or P20. On this web-site I saw a pic with "P20arrow" arrow and "P4arrow" on the terminals -- mine doesn't have those markings.  The P20 is obvious with its retaining clip.  The P4 not so much.  My P4 has a 1 smooth side, two sides with <ledges> and the fourth has a <prong> on each corner.   I thought the ledges should meet with the ledges on the P20 and the smooth side seems to be the side that goes against the P20.  I performed the paper clip test and confirmed the PSU is spinning by itself. But  the PSU doesn't spin when connected to the MB.  In a second attempt I noticed the P4 does have one round pin-case.  That appears to match pin 24 on the MB -- even though the P4 has an "11" and "12" in the adjacent pin-case on the P4 itself.
Can someone please confirm the orientation?

I've got a little Mboard speaker attachment but my Mboard doesn't appear to 4-pin "SPKR".  It does have a 3 led "EZ Diag LED".  None light.  If I understand electricity well enough -- the PSU expects the motherboard to complete the circuit, yes?  My only unknown at this point is the proper orientation of the P4.

The mboard is:

    Welcome to the Forum.
    This does help

The Edge of the 4-Pin goes under the Edge of the 20-Pin as shown.

The 4-Pin only goes only one way on the 20-Pin when you put them together.
The Clip locks on the Clip on the MB and you will see on the Bottom from what I can tell on your MB

Thank you C-tor!  That was a very enjoyable moment of joy.  Alas, the MB/PSU still don't respond, no signs of life.  I hope its not because I had the P4-mis-oriented...

Do you mean the 2 4-Pin EPS Cable for the 8-Pin EPS Connector?
As long as the Clips lock in and the really do only go in one way so I think not.
Take you Motherboard out of the Case and Bench Start it by placing the MB on a Static Free Surface
You only the CPU One Memory Stick to test this but Both the 24-Pin and 8-Pin EPS Cable must be plugged in.
You need no Hard Drive connected to test the MB.
Not knowing what CPU you have you also may need a GPU on your Bench Testing.

Also a 450 Watt Power Supply might be to Small for your Setup.

Hi, No the P4 of the P24.  (I knew something wasn't right, re: orientation/no Signs Of Life) because the P20+4 "assembly" wasn't sitting flush to the slot and so my OP).  Now it is (tx2u).

I don't currently have anything attached except the P24 and 2x4(8) and getting no SOL.  Don't have the CPU installed yet, nor HDs. Did have one bank of DDR in but not now.  I'd take any of the following as SOL:  Any of the fans spin (two case, 1 psu), leds lighting on the MB or a beep of any sort.  Not expecting the third:  I see no board mounted "speaker" and no 4pin connector for the little diddy speaker that came with the case.

Why do you think this PSU isn't enough?  I used PCPartPicker to set this up.  I knew going in I shouldn't expect a guarantee of compatibility -- but certainly better than my level of astuteness.
Lack of "guarantee" is somewhat borne out by the fact the MSI MB will take 6 SATA drives -- but the PSU only has four powers.  Not a prob for me I'm going with 3 HDs and 1 SSD

My first DIY in years and I've gone from sloppy case instructions and design, to (un)suspecting a PSU, to now chasing a ghost MB.  Machines were easier in the '386 days.

This is why "Don't have the CPU installed yet,"
You need a CPU for the Motherboard to Start and Post.
YOU need a CPU Cooler on your CPU, Do Not Startup your Motherboard Without a CPU Cooler.

ok.  I'd suspected so - found a lot of how tos and expects, but couldn't find anything explicitly stating that.  Thanks for that I'm feeling better now, and hope rises...
