Maybe I'll snag a 4090 instead, they'll probably be selling relatively cheap soon.
Don't count on it the 4090 is faster than any 5080 so it will be priced even used above the most expensive 5080 and will be priced below the cheapest 5090. The best chance was after the Nvidia at CES when people started to panic sell their 4090's. Now with all the facts laid out, the horrible limited 50 series launch with crap availability yeah... The days of cheaper 4090's is over until the 60 series.
Hmm good point, unfortunately for me.
Besides gaming, I'm also interested in rendering capabilities, and the 5090 looks like it will kick butt with all that VRAM.
I still have 2 brand new EVGA 3090Ti cards, a brand new EK full cover block for one of them, and found a NVLink SLI bridge on EBay a while back, so I could do a new SLI setup with the 3090Ti cards, and although the VRAM isn't pooled, I can still utilize 2 cards for rendering. Very few games these days utilize SLI though.
Also have a used EVGA 3090 that I had on water, but have put the air cooler back on that. I should probably try to sell them all while there's still demand, and just wait for a 5090 to become available, whenever that may be... not even sure which AIB I'd use, probably ASUS, but it depends which cards have waterblocks available.
Anyone have experience with Gigabyte Aorus? I see they have made a 5090 with a waterblock (
Xtreme Waterforce) but I'm a bit wary of the brand, and I read somewhere they've used aluminum fins which was a stupid idea having mixed metals in a loop as everything else I have is brass. That alone would take it off my list.
