Update:

So I ordered a USB 3.0 19 pin splitter for the front panel.

I removed that other drive showing up as 128gb and bought another samsung 990 pro with heat sink and now it's not showing up in bios or disk management.... might get the pc in to have a look at it...maybe something is missing......??????

Confused

Are you trying to make a RAID setup or just individual drives?

Not showing up in BIOS:
1) turn Fast Boot Off in BIOS if it is on
2) make sure to enable the M.2 Key-M slots in-use

follow any directions from the M.2 Mfg & your Asus MB

Hi, individual drives.... I've turned off fast boot....searched high n low but nothing showing up in bios to turn on the other m.2 slots. When I get home tonight, I will try again to reseat the drive.....maybe I'm not seating it properly???

I did not read this thread ..... just thought it sounded somewhat like the issue you are having:  MAG X870 Tomahawk - Disappearing M2_3 and removable M2_2

You have never clarified which Exact Asus MB you have .... there are many flavors of "TUF"

(from my first post) Which specific MB? Asus has many variations of their  TUF x870 MBs

Your CPU & MB choice can/ will impact how many PCIe lanes are available, so without the exact model number .....

BIOS settings - all depends on if the M.2 slots are PCIe from CPU or the Chipset .... bifurcation setting?

If it is not a BIOS setting; always possible the M.2 socket is damaged as this is the second M.2 not working correctly in that slot

Is this your MB ????? --->>> TUF GAMING X870-PLUS WIFI

If that is your MB plenty of documents & directions found here: TUF GAMING X870-PLUS WIFI - Support - ASUS

Looks like you have a pretty old BIOS version on that motherboard - current version is 0816 if it's the one CoolGTX linked to - I'm assuming that it is since there are may Asus X870 boards, but the TUF Gaming X870 Plus WiFi is the only "TUF X870" that I see.  If it were my build, updating that BIOS would be my first step...

> IF that doesn't fix the issue with the 990 Pro, THEN my next step would be full disassembly & start from scratch, reinstalling only the motherboard, CPU(with cooler of course), RAM, PSU, and the 990 Pro.

> IF that doesn't fix it, then if possible, check the 990 Pro in a different motherboard (or in my case an external enclosure) to see if it's the drive itself, or a motherboard issue.

EDIT: not ready to install it just yet, but after your post, I decided to hook up my new 990 Pro 4TB via my external enclosure, which will be my new OS drive in my upcoming build refresh, and Windows sees 3726.01GB of unallocated space.  Also planning on lapping the CPU IHS on the 13900KS & water block contact plate during that refresh!

That really sucks

But that's also why I almost exclusively buy computer hardware from Newegg, Amazon, or when possible directly from the manufacturer.   Also being careful to check the return policies, and whenever possible only buying sold-by/shipped-by Newegg or Amazon items.  There are a couple of other good vendors that I will occasionally buy from as well, but only if they have a MUCH better deal going on, i.e. $20 total savings isn't enough to give up the ease of returns through Amazon...

On both occasions, I did get my money back....

I see your reasoning, but the prices on marketplace can't be beat....I got 2x 990 pros 4tb for the price of 1 retail

Good that you got your $ back!

Here's another reason I only buy from authorized dealers....  limited warranty shall not apply to any Samsung products purchased from unauthorized resellers or retailers\ - source:    https://semiconductor.samsung.com/us/consumer-storage/support/warranty/

It's like that for most of the major computer product manufacturers btw....
