With the release of Win 11 24H2 upon us, I've been trying to get this mobo to present its on-board TPM to the OS, admittedly without much luck.

Anyone else have this working properly on motherboard SKU E799?


Before everyone starts posting the "did you try xyz" comments below, yes, the usual suspects have been tried/verified. Eg.:

- BIOS ver 1.21 (latest). (BIOS version doesn't have an impact in this case/No change with other BIOS versions.)
- "Security Device Support" under "Trusted Computing" is enabled, but below this option states: "No security device found".
- "Secure boot" is enabled and active (reset keys to factory several times) / CSM disabled
- tpm.msc reports "Compatible Trusted Platform Module cannot be found"

I'll open a ticket with eVGA support if its just a "me" problem (or if its an "all of us" problem)

Think I remember that it only works for any system, only if you enable the TPM feature on the MB ---> Before you load the OS

I know I've attempted this in the past with this motherboard, but re-attempted just now to ensure I wasn't crazy. 

With the same BIOS settings as mentioned in my OP/shown in Google Drive photos, the Win 24H2 bootable installer halts when checking "system compatibility", and will not proceed. Assumedly, because no TPM can be found (eg. as reported under the "Security Device Support" option, where it reports "No Security Device Found")

Works fine for me on Z790 Classified:

 
Enable it and reinstall OS. If that doesn't work RMA the board.

FAQ # 59812 How to Enable Trusted Platform Module(TPM) in your EVGA Motherboard BIOS  (copy below)

To enable TPM/PTT on your motherboard in preparation for Windows 11, you'll want to follow these steps:
 
1.) Enter the BIOS.
 
2.) Go to "Setup".
 
3.) Navigate to "Advanced".
 
4.) Under "Trusted Computing", enable "Intel PTT Support".
 
 
5.) Save these settings with "Save and Exit".
 
This will enable TPM on the system. However, you will still need to enable Safe Boot to ensure a full installation of Windows 11 is successful.
 
To enable Safe Boot:
 
1.) Enter the BIOS.
 
2.) Go to "Setup".
 
3.) Navigate to "Boot".
 
4.) Navigate to "CSM Configuration" and disable it.
 
5.) Navigate from "Boot" to "Security".
 
6.) From "Security" head to "Secure Boot" and enable it.
 
7.) Save these settings with "Save and Exit".
 
You will then be able to use WIN + R in Windows, run tpm.msc, and be able to see if your TPM device is ready. If successful, you will see, "The TPM is ready for use" and means your TPM is ready for Windows 11. Otherwise, you will see the message, "Compatible TPM cannot be found".
 
Your motherboard will need to support Secure Boot in order to support TPM. You can check your compatibility HERE.

Yea, I had already read, and re-read that several times. Only difference on the E799 (and maybe other boards, however I only have the E799 to verify against) is that the only option present under "Trusted Computing" (at least the only option *I* have present) is called "Security Device Support". Your options for "Security Device Support" are "Enabled" or "Disabled". (Its obviously enabled, as shown in the screen captures linked in the OP.)

I'm assuming that article was just never updated to reflect the wording on Z790 boards. (Dated 7/6/2021)

If this was supposed to be "known" then I apologize for creating a thread, but I was never aware Intel's ME was a dependency for PTT flavors of fTPM. (Which is definitely disappointing, because I'd prefer to not leave that "door" open.)

Enabling Intel ME in the BIOS then results in the "Trusted Computing" area of the "Advanced" BIOS menu displaying the expected output (just as in ilukeberry's screen capture in post #4)
