I'd wait and see what the next gen Intel is like - should be out Q3 or Q4 (this year). Zen5 is due in July if you can't wait for Intel.

If you want to go to Zen 5, wait until the end of July. I've been using AMD CPUs for a few years now and am thrilled with the result. Intel should release their new CPUs later in the year. Rumor has it that AMD might release their new X3D CPUs at the same time.

I think DDR5 offers some outstanding speeds.

is that speed worth the upgrade to ddr5. i would have to do mobo cpu and ram. i am waiting till new cpus and motherboards for them come out and check pricing.

(moving to General computer hardware)

What do you use the PC for?

I'd start by looking at third party performance reviews, to see how many seconds are trimmed or extra frames one might expect.

As different games respond to benchmarks differently (CPU vs GPU bound), make sure to look for the games or software that you run

I would not expect that outside of benchmarks, you would see any difference

The 5800x3D is still a pretty strong chip.  I would wait until AMD releases the 9800x3D to see what kind of gain you would get from it.  Your machine is still capable of handling anything you try to do with it.  AM5 or even Intel is not going to give you a major bump you might be looking for.  Best to wait.

If you're mainly gaming I'd feel co.fortable saying your system will ne great for 2 more GPU generations potentially. I'd stay AM4 myself.
