Yeah I agree, I already clarified that. :)
"My question about whether it was worth upgrading from 13900 to 14900 was intended as a side point, not whether the BIOS update should or shouldn't happen. :)   Also there may well be more than a few people who purchased the EVGA Z790 more recently and were waiting on the 14900K to come out before using the board."

it doesn't matter if you agree. I had also made this point, also as a side point lol (because we all agree that better support is expected). They don't want to talk about that here. I guess we'd need a new thread for that discussion about how 14900k is just a binned 13900k.

I guess so. :)  I don't care enough to start a separate thread, it was just a passing thought. Seems to have struck a nerve though, as you apparently also found out, lol.
Peace.

The BIOS to support the Raptor Lakes has been requested. Unfortunately we do not have an ETA at this time.

I received the exact same cookie cutter response. Regardless of whether or not the 14th gen "works" (or not) with current bios, we all deserve a proper official bios update to show support for their *current* lineup of products. If that means they need to hire back the bios team for a one-off, then by all means PLEASE do it and get this done ASAP. Maybe one of the members of the forum needs to be elected to CEO to get this done? Joking but not really joking.

This is true^. Especially as it seems that while 14900k/f may technically work (nobody has posted thorough testing yet), the 14700k and others do not work.

Well it looks like you can't buy any mobo's from evga.com OR 3rd party anymore (OOS). EVGA is DONE!!!!

Yeah I saw they they stopped selling it.. Also other 3rd party web stores. I assume people would be still buying them along with new Intel 14th Gen CPUs and later discovered it would not work because there is no BIOS updates to support 14th gen of Intel CPUs.

It seems 14th Gen CPU is already working on Z790 with the latest LAST BIOS as per a posting from someone at the overclockers website:

Post is by: Talon2016

Quoted:

14900K up and running fine on my Z690 Dark on current BIOS 2.13.

BIOS recognizes the CPU as 14900K, and clocks and boosting all appear to be working as intended.

Sounds like the original BIOS team has already left the company and now they're trying to hire some temps to do one last update

They left 6 months ago, 1.15 was a special bios that was made 7 months ago and wasn't certified as a beta bios till the bios team was gone.

What I hate about situation there is like zero transparency and communication on this matter by EVGA to its motherboard customers.
No official statements, no announcements - nothing. EVGA was once really top tier hardware vendor now it just turned into pile of (removed).
