Hello

Basicly, I want to buy latest motherboard with Windows XP support, and I saw Luumi's video about installing/using WinXP OS on Z390/Z490 Dark.
However, he mentions in it that there is a specific UEFI BIOS version required to make it work (not BSOD on startup). Is this version provided via Support ticket to owners of mentioned boards, or is there a link that I failed to find on BIOS download page ?
Also, is there updated version of this special BIOS that supports Rocket Lake CPUs on both Z490/Z590 Dark, or is it limited to 10-th generation only ?

Thank you for all responses.

PS. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see any mentioning of Windows XP support for Z690/Z790 Dark - so, I'm assuming they can't/don't support it (or special BIOS isn't needed/wasn't created) ?

Windows XP has been basically dead for quite some time. Windows XP doesn't support the newest hardware so you might have a lot of trouble finding a driver that works with certain hardware. Windows XP also doesn't support newer Direct X versions for gaming.

Even Windows 7 is no longer supported on the newest hardware. Stick with Windows 10 or Windows 11.

I'm planning to use WinXP Z490/Z590 Dark combo as bench platform only, NOT a daily one.
Doesn't matter what WinXP supports officially, if a platform can run games/programs on it - it's fair game to me :)

Pretty sure EVGA never made a Bios for Windows xp to be supported. Unless you come across a third party Bios but for sure I would never use it since void warranty if ever exist. Driver for XP would never work eighter there just too new.

I'm pretty sure they did, as Luumi states it himself (that you need WinXP BIOS) ?

WinXP on Z490 : h t t p s : / / w w w . y o u t u b e . c o m / watch?v=EtTmmGx18tg.

@up Sadly that's Z390 Dark BIOS, which I can't use on Z490 Dark or Z590 Dark (at least, I think I can't ?).

1) I didn't asked Scott from Warp9, but I will send him PM after this.
2) I do NOT own the board yet, so that isn't possible for me to do - EVGA Support system does NOT allow you to issue a question to Support about EVGA's product you do NOT own (since you can only issue "tickets" for registered products). I could throw a question about Z490/Z590 Dark via a ticket for EVGA GPU I own - but I strongly do NOT want to do that.
3) I did asked about Dark's XP BIOS on YT video, but I didn't have any responses so far.

Currently waiting for Scott to get back to me...
In the meantime : Calling isn't a bad option, but that would be international call (as I'm from Poland). As for emailing directly, I don't see an email adress I can use for this :

^Do you know one, or is it an email adress to specific person from EVGA Support I should use ?
To clarify : I will wait for Scott's answer before I try this.

Hello everyone.

is the any news on this subject?
last year i had a Z390 Dark with a 980Ti Classified and with the Mainboard BIOS which was linked in a thread on this forum installing XP worked.
But now i have the Z490 Dark and I would like to install XP on it too.

Yes, I know the guide for the Z490 Dark. But the necessary BIOS file isn't linked there.
For my Z390 Dark there is a video guide by Luumi too. There was a BIOS file for the Z390 linked and it worked.
So i need the BIOS file for the Z490.
