Seen a few post about EK Back Plate issues, getting ready to block my 3080ti and don't want to run into issues. Does anyone know if this is still a issue? Thoughts on using simple electrical tape to tape off potential issue points on the back of the card? I can order Kapton tape if needed but don't really want to wait on it if simple electrical tape will work.

What issues have you been seeing?

I must have missed the issues that are occurring because I haven’t seen anything about it.

Been seeing some posts about clearance issues and possible issues with arcing and shorting the cards out. The issues do seem to point back to a year or more ago, so just wanted to see if anyone had seen or know of any issues persisting currently or if they had been remedied.

Well after reading the 29 page thread here on the forum. I did not see where the back plate got revised ( I may have missed it). But there was a revision to the block for the stand offs. Which I am glad I red through, going to double check my block to make sure it has the new style standoffs.

We were aware of early EK revisions with the block stand offs which was revised but not the back plates. Certainly want to reach out to EK directly for something like this. 

The early waterblocks had issues with two standoffs (early 2021). A revision fixed it. I had one of the first one blocks. EK sent me new standoffs free of charge. I ended up swapping them out, but I didn't have issues either way.

They came out with Rev 2 Waterblocks a very long time ago...about a year ago last Aug / Sept....they (EK) also sent a couple of new stand-offs for original blocks.
 
For what its worth it was never solely determined that the  Blocks (not backplates) were really an issue....I had my first 3080Ti go "pop n poof" 3 months after installing Rev 2 Block. The replacement (yeah refurb) Card has been going strong for about a year with the same Water Block (and backplate)

the new ones have captive screws with standoffs for mistake free mounting
