Linus Torvalds moment. nVidia must have acted extremely poorly towards EVGA in order for it to come to this.
I wish you guys and gals the best going forward. There will be a lot of fanboy responses due to EVGA having been an nVidia-exclusive partner for so long but the company would be more than welcomed producing video cards for AMD. Best of luck to all of the employees, and thanks for the years of hard work.
It would be one thing to say that EVGA will start producing AMD cards, but to say EVGA won't be making next gen (nvidia) cards is pretty shocking. I would agree with Excalibur above that "something must have hit the fan" for things to get to this point.
I have confidence that EVGA could hit their stride with AMD cards. Unfortunately I recently purchased a high end monitor with the nvidia module, so it looks like i'll be shopping with another AIB
.
Something stands out to me with Jacob's post:

EVGA will continue to provide the current generation products
My guess: there was a major blow-out with remaining 30 series GPUs that are currently overstocked. I bet EVGA asked for a buyback or something along those lines and Nvidia wasn't willing to budge. EVGA is going to sell-through what they have and not buy a single 40 series chip.
In the mean time transition to AMD.
Edit: Sounds like they won't be making AMD or Intel cards either.
All I can say is, nothing is forever.. and hopefully we will see a return making GPUs down the road. This is very sad and sorry to any EVGA employees that will be affected by this.
A note to Andrew Han: 100% of EVGA's customer equity is tied to GPUs.. Staying out of this market will kill the brand. Just look at all the comments. We're not here solely for the peripherals, PSUs or Mobos.
