The end of EVGA as we know it, going downhill.....FAST :( Those minning sales def made them get a BIG head. First was the warranty...then extended warranty pricing.....now this....

Sad to see the program disappear

TBH EVGA is no longer the EVGA of the past. More and more every day they're becoming anther run if the mill GPU seller and there is not much to set them aside anymore.

Things are changing — certainly. But that is true across the tech landscape. EVGA still does regular twitch streams, site scavenger hunts, etc. etc.

I feel the loss of the Associate program, but its impending departure to the dustbin of history is not cause for me to declare my “loyalty dead” or a charitable “option“ to be asinine. Just seems unnecessarily harsh and reactionary in response to this morning’s news…at least that is how this amphibian sees it.

It wouldn’t surprise me of the EVGA team comes up with some new community building programs over time…but who knows.….

I assume this will end up as taxable income? Will EVGA provide a 1099?

Yes, I confirmed with EVGA that for folks over a certain amount (I believe it is $600, but don’t quote me on this specific number), EVGA will require a 1099.

Thanks man! They should def make it very clear that it is taxable for people just so anyone with more than a little bit saved up for 40 series is prepared to maybe owe something come tax day instead of expecting a return. Nothing sucks more than an unexpected tax bill.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Step Up program looks at price paid in cash after discounts are taken off not the MSRP. So if you bought a graphics card and saved $50 using EVGA bucks the end result is having to pay the $50 in cash when/if the 4000 series card comes out within the 90 days. I want to make sure people are aware since it could change the thoughts people make in using them. I have seen people talk about buying a GPU with their bucks in hopes of a step up but it's a bad idea.

What will happen to any EVGA bucks between now and September the 13th? If I were to say cash out now, then earn more EVGA after that, what would happen to them? I'm also wondering when all means of earning EVGA bucks will be halted as well, if it's the same September 13th date, or earlier.

That was today. You can't earn any more. The pending ones will be given to you within 6-10 days, but you won't earn any more. You just have until September 13th to spend them, cash out for half their value, or donate them to charity.
