After months of waiting (due to not having time because of work) I finally had time to mount up my EK Vector and Active backplates to my 3090 FTW3 Ultras....  Holy cow these cards are massive and heavy with these two blocks installed...

These are original 3090 FTW3 cards running the XOC 500W bios.......(PCIE wattage was ok so I did not RMA them), They are also the original 3090 vector blocks  (No issues with the standoffs..)

Just got them installed in a new 12900k, ASUS Maximus extreme glacial.....(Now I wait for ASUS and NVIDIA to play nice so I can get a BIOS that will enable NVLINK.....

Once I get to testing I will posts temps...More to come soon..

Did you consider the EK Terminal Block..?....I used them in all of my previous WC's multi GPU set-ups and the one thing I really liked with them was how they added so much rigidity n support to the overall weight of 2 Cards....or in one case 3 Cards.
Or perhaps it simply wont work with the Active Backplates....

I did consider using the terminal block before I got the active backplates, but when you add the active backplates the block will not work anymore....

Just installed the active backplate today and of course the memory temps didn't improve.  Went ahead and ordered the Gelid Extreme pads and will replace them all and repaste the GPU.  I got my 3090 from EVGA on launch day and my block was ordered in December '20.  If everything has worked to this point, should I worry about swapping to the revised standoffs?

Just completed my rebuild, 3080 FTW3, EK vector + Ek backplate + cpu upgrade to 5950x
My system is a 011 DXL dual xspc radiators (top + bottom), GPU is in a vertical mount above the push pull.  System fan curve is modest and not too loud.  Push pull nfa-12 on bottom, push nfa-12 on top, single nfa-12 at rear.  Case is hard tube but I wanted to test the block fitment and temps before I drain and take down the hard tube.  I mounted the block and hooked it up an an external ek xe 360 rad and pump to test.

I ran furmark for 22 minutes on each run then played games for an hour to get the temps.

5800x cpu
Stock fan speeds air cooler
GPU temp - 30.7 idle
GPU temp – 69.9 load
Mem junct – 30.0 idle
Mem junct – 88 load
Hotspot – 35.5 idle
Hotspot – 82.7 load

5800x cpu
EK XE external 360 radiator 3x GT fans full speed
GPU temp – 23.8 idle
GPU temp – 39.7 load
Mem junct – 30.0 idle
Mem junct – 50 load
Hotspot – 33.8 idle
Hotspot – 54.9 load

Replaced the cpu to 5950x, added ek 3080 to 011 hard loop
GPU temp – 26.7 idle
GPU temp – 50.2 load
Mem junct – 32.0 idle
Mem junct – 62 load
Hotspot – 36.7 idle
Hotspot – 65.1 load

One thing I noticed is on the backplate the instructions are a little off for the thermal pad placement.  Once you start test fitting it you realize it isnt lined up on one section, by the memory closer to the rear of the card.  I added some of the left over thermal pad to make contact all of the components.  Other then that the card worked fine.
I do notice the back plate gets very hot when gaming, like feels weirdly too hot by hand but I guess that is doing its job and transferring the heat from the components.

Also there is noticeable coil whine now, even when the case is closed.  It doesn’t happen when benchmarking or normal task, but in games it is noticeable, it seems to die down after a while but I have not been able to isolate which part it is from yet.

Got my 3080 12GB a couple days ago and need to get it under water. You guys think it's worth it to wait on the Velocity 2 block that ships in March or just go ahead and grab the one that is out now? I have the Velocity 2 LGA 1700 block, so I would like to have them match. But I am not sure if it's worth waiting 2 or 3 months for the new block that will likely perform about the same.

I would wait since you are getting an Ampere card just now.  You will probably hold on to it for awhile and the mismatch will drive you nuts.  Especially when the visual aspect is a huge part of water cooling.

+1 on the tape for the RGB wire.  I used a tiny piece of electrical tape.

Which Wire? the tiny one on the back of the card for the evga logo that you cant see once the blocks on?

Did you end up getting the vector² block? From what I could glean, the vector² has a 11mm thick coldplate vs the 6mm I think came on the original. I ordered one with the active backplate and the shipping went from March to June.
