Hey guys on a 3080 FTW3 Ultra should I be able to get more then +90 on core over clock. I get game crashes on anything higher and also with my New Alderlake 12700k I am getting screen flicker while watching videos like Youtube.

Just wondering if I have to RMA this thing. I have a 3080Ti now and that thing is nuts I can hit like +165 and its still asking for more :)

I would not OC to watch youtube videos or even game, Pushing the card for a 2 minute benchmark is one thing, but daily driving you should look at stock or undervolting settings. the 3 fps you get running the card at full tilt is not worth it for the extra heat and stress you put on your components

Maybe I'll go for some cool air in the morning again too. Although last time I tried I couldn't beat my old PR score,

15271

https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1310029

But looks like TSE got a free bump sometime as when I ran it on my 3090 today it was 200-300 pts higher for no obvious reason.

Impressive score , that's the top 3080 Ti I have ever seen

That's true for cards on air, especially undervolting to 0.9v, I find it gives a slightly better performance than stock and only consumes  2/3 of the power. The temp is also 10~15 C lower than stock. Undervolting to 0.8V lost about 5% of the performance.

For cards that use a liquid cooler, I think it's still worth overclocking the core (but not to its full limit; my card can do +195, and I only do +150 on daily use).
For mem, +1500 mem only give me 1~2 extra FPS and much more power draw and heat, so I give up on it.

There are plenty of higher scores, although I think most of them are on the Galax 1kw bios.

Yes, most of them. 450w is simply not enough for both high core and mem clock.
When using +195 core and +1100 mem for TS Extreme, my average core frequency is 2095 Mhz.
When using +180 core and +1500 mem, my average core frequency is down to 2030 Mhz; Yet this setting generates a 110 higher TSE score.

I do not leave the OC on all the time. Only when I am in a tinkering mood. I simply was pointing out this card cannot handle being over clocked and was looking for advice and see if I should attempt a RMA

Here is what I ended up with this morning.  No improvement on PR.  Still can't quite match the one above.

Stock bios,

TS: 22501 (reBar off to keep from tanking my cpu score)  https://www.3dmark.com/spy/24533909
TSE: 11590  https://www.3dmark.com/spy/24532521

PR: 15536  https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1329438

But still didn't match PR, older run,

PR: 15565  https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1310058

So once again, stock bios is really pretty darn good particularly if you look at the frame rate differences.

Yeah this RMA replacement card came with original vbios.(both dated April 2021)....whether it means anything or not my Card that crapped the bed started having issues about a week after installing PX and updating vbios / fw to see if resize bar helped at all......
I may just leave this vbios alone this time ;)
