Mine's a 3090 as well.. just gonna test out 2.5mm pads. Otherwise I'm selling this garbage for a Strix. And it's terrible cause EVGA has the best customer service.
Did you try Gelid Extreme ?
I use the hybrid kit on my 3090 FTW3, but it seems the pad provided by EVGA are not good, and specially on the copper part.
but i think i would to buy original hybrid kit premounted, or kingpin.
I find that ThermalRight is plenty good. It's been more than enough to keep the temps of the VRAM way down. You don't really NEED the best of the best of the best, just not the worst of the worst of the worst, which would be Gigabyte's stock thermal pads, insanely bad, and they **** oil onto the fans which spray it everywhere. If you get a Gigabyte, replace those pieces of **** before you even turn it on. But my 3080 XC black when I was first putting it through its paces wasn't throttling at all. It was the first of a few cards I'd seen that didn't insta throttle when mining. I decided to not replaces the standard thermal pads on the EVGA XC3 black and only put thermal pads behind the VRAM connecting it to the backplate, which I don't know why the AIB's don't ****ing do that. It's so annoying, that backplate is a heatshield! It traps heat inside the graphics card and allows no airflow to take heat away from the back of the card. They are a scourge of modern GPU's. But credit where it's due to EVGA for making a backplate with a bunch of hexagonal holes all over it and a large area just behind the core. There is way more potential for air to get in there with that kind of backplate. I don't know if all of EVGA's are like that though. Even if you aren't mining, I'd still recommend connecting the heatshield/insulator/bull**** backplate with some at least ThermalRight pads to the backplate so that it isn't just hurting your thermals but instead helps them. God, **** backplates. They're a case of pretty over performance.
