Buildzoid's video about the z390 dark has a good primer on this, but the short answer is that you'll be able to tolerate more aggressive timings/higher memory speeds.

Less stress on the CPU Integrated Memory Controller, so it increases overclocking capabilities. 4 dimms adds more stress to the IMC, and can cause instability during extreme overclocking, and the extra traces also add noise, so there are only two dimms and the traces are kept as short as possible.

I love the look of the Dark....but I'm sticking with AMD for a couple years at this point...
 
 

Serious question: why do these exist? 14nm, old chipset, etc. Why didn’t EVGA make an X570 board at this point? I don’t see a valid reason to buy anything Intel based for at least a few years.

I bought my Z490 on 11/19/2020 and would like to step up...  Does anyone know if I can make it? I see under my products that it says:
This product is not available for Step-Up. Please read the terms and conditions of our Step-Up program.

I think it's 90 days.  There only appears to be renders of the board with no actual release date.  So it's probably a month or so still, if not more.  If you were eligible (which it looks like not),  I don't think you'd make the window having bought your board back in November.

Unfortunate... I'm tired of dealing with the issues with my board (Wifi and memory issues) and now I have to take pictures of the socket and send it back to EVGA for a replacement which probably is a refurb... 
 
Last question, what form factor do you think these boards will be?  ATX or E-ATX?

Watching Buildzoid discussing the new board on his livestream. 12 phase vcore on the FTW board? Hmmm.......
