New record 15802, no tricks just open window starting temp 18c

What the heck lol. You went up like 1000 points on the same clock speeds. How does this work??

15.8 is unicorn bin.

Probably 1K BIOS and cold ambient

That's my guess too. I was hitting all sorts of power limits on my 15.3k run. 520-537 watts, and I couldn't push the core faster because of it. My avg temp was a bit under 40C, I think 37C. I think with XOC and ice water I could hit 15.5k or more, but I'm more nervous of condensation from the freezing water.

So the secret is just to open a window huh? Lol. Sorry already did that. Had a run start as low as 17c.

Also be sure to hit silicon lottery.  That's the other secret sauce.  Why can't everyone just hit 15.8k at room temp?  This guy could crack 16k on a cold night in the garage.

I love that people can pull 15k+ with a little cold air.  I do wish people would include that they're using ice water/dry ice/outside on a 18F evening, just to help sort through some of this.  I'm going to assume you're using some really cold air when your 3dmark temp average is 25C.  My best score came from starting at 10C, and my runs still finish right around 40C.

If anyone happens to be using the unlocked bios do you happen to know if/why it's not throttling at idle? Idle power draw is around 122W. Idle power draw on anything else is around 20-30W (expected). Seems like a bug.

It’s because the memory never clocks down.

Yep, gotta hit that silicon lotto.

Mine was outside with 24f air. Clicked start with the gpu at -4c and run ended at 26c.

Not super impressed with the stock Kingpin by the results I’m seeing here. My 3090 Suprim X can do 14,500 port royal just fine simply by maxing the fans and using +160/+1000 clocks in afterburner. 14,300 with quiet fans. These <5% marginal gains going to a Kingpin are so incredibly slim :(

The Kingpin is fundamentally an extreme overclocking card. It’s designed to handle liquid nitrogen without hard mods. A lot of people are new to the KPE this time around and they expect it to outperform other 3090s when casually moving the sliders to the right while listening to Dave Matthews Band. That you achieved +5% over another overclocked 3090 is both impressive and not guaranteed.

Except these are supposedly binned and everyone has WILDLY different performance. One guy without doing anything using classified tool is hitting above 15k while a majority of us can't even hit 15k

Suprim X are binned as well. It's MSI's flagship. From what I've read this is supposed to replace the lightning z which I wouldn't consider it a replacement as it doesn't have voltage control.
