  • Introducing the THINNEST & Lightest 3080 PC build for Video editors (world record?)

Okay clickbait maybe lol. Probably not world record for thinnest/lightest BUT I'm extremely proud of my build :)

...This was ONLY POSSIBLE with the 3080 XC3!

I measured literally every 3080 card... This (and the EXTREMELY hard-to-get Nvidia 3080 FE) were the ONLY 3080s that could fit my case... and JUST barely!

Thank you EVGA for building a card that actually fits my SFF cpu case! :)

Part List:
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 3950x
  • GPU: EVGA 3080 XC3 Ultra Black (w/ a 90-degree PCIE4.0 riser cable)
  • RAM: 64gb (4x16) Ram DDR4-3200 CL16
  • Case: Thermaltake Core G3
  • Mobo: ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi
  • CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Pro
  • PSU: Corsair SF 750w
  • CPU Fans: 4x Noctua A12x25 120mm

This build was made to be as THIN, LIGHT, and QUIET as possible for my video editing needs because it mounts directly  to my standing desk.

My PCs should not be seen or heard (RGB is a no-go for me, I always turn it off), so I strive to get my PCs as SMALL AND INCONSPICUOUS as possible to not draw attention to itself... while being as POWERFUL as possible.

My original case was a Fractal Design Meshify C, which was just too thick and took up too much desk space. Now, after building PCs for 20+ years I FINALLY have a top-of-the-line GPU in the SMALLEST case ever. :)

And a couple more Case shots for good measure:

With no GPU:

Look at how snug it fits!

With the 90 degree riser cable (whew almost touched the Case fan)

Interesting that you crammed a RTX 3080 in there but man, that card has literally no ventilation for its fans since it's sitting  so close to the side panel. 86C is getting a bit on the toasty side since the GPU is rated to 91C before thermal throttling itself. Yeah it's still in spec but I'd keep a close eye on it. You can have the panel cut or modded to better ventilate the 3080 and if that's not your thing, there are places like ModMyMods.com that you can contact them and they will do it for you for a fee.

Cable management man inside and out takes just 10 minutes to that in your set up

I love that case. The only thing I would change is getting rid of the taper on the front, I like my cases nice and boxy.
