Look out for the Ampere refresh! (it needs it)

Sorting out their issues first before releasing more SKUs is definitely the right move.  I still fully expect the 3080ti with more than 10 GEEBEES to become a thing next year.  And maybe even super variants using the different Fabrication process.

Cancelled cards that probably never existed..

Bingo.
Let Nvidia fan base do the explaining on this one.
I will prepare the popcorn this should be good.

Right now demand for the RTX 3080/RTX 3090 is very high so there is no reason for NVIDIA to release any SKU in between in my opinion.

To me, this lends credence to the idea that Nvidia is changing process as fast as they can. Perhaps Samsung 7nm EUV.

I think the same

7nm wont be coming until super refresh next year, thats when 2gb gddr6x chips will also drop so it makes sense its not coming in a couple weeks like some people were hoping

i would say hopper and 5nm...5nm is avail now

if they are gonna cut sku's out and have limited supply as it is then they might as well skip 7nm(since ampere is on 7nm since they bought up excess cap from tsmc) and go to 5nm
yields are better there

The momentum at 5nm node was carried on well into volume production which started in the first half of 2020. Compared to 7nm FinFET (N7) technology, N5 technology offers about 15% speed improvement or about 30% reduction in power consumption.

so yeah they are producing high volume 5nm already

hopper 2021

it doesn't pay to do a refresh when you are putting out new silicon so soon to compete with AMD and INTEL

Samsung is making the NVIDIA GPUs and in my opinion they simply can't make enough of the GPUs to meet the worldwide demand. It will be months before Samsung can catch up.

So...after reading/watching some follow-up...

It looks like the card that AMD demoed when Zen3 was announced was the 6800XT which is the 72CU version of Big Navi 21.

Leaked Big Navi product stack shows an 80CU version.
https://videocardz.com/ne...21-xtx-gpu-with-80-cus

It looks like the 6900XT will be equal to a 3090.

Additionally, the TSMC process is showing it's benefits in the OC headroom on the Big Navi cards. AIB's are getting 2.5GHz on air.
https://videocardz.com/ne...a-2577-mhz-boost-clock

Personally, I'm left wondering what raytracing will look like on Big Navi and what their response is to DLSS. I would assume Raytracing is credible since both consoles are advertising RT in 4K@60fps.

All of this leads me to believe Ampere is not long for this world.
