hi i got a ftw3 ultra and i am going to put a hybrid kit on it. Can i use the xoc hybrid bios instead of the fwt3 ultra bios?

Yes, but you'll need the xoc hybrid vbios in .rom format, and you will need to use nvflash to flash it to your card.

Why is this still beta...next time I'm getting Asus strix. Every new driver update the fan control on precision x1 gos nuts.

I'm playing and my temps are 80c. I open the window it's -15 outside and my temps stay about the same.

After I installed the nvidia hot fix driver update only 1 fan was spinning. I have to keep checking the fan control check box and keep checking on it.

Such dumb glitches for such an expensive card.

I got the 3080 back in mid October from the store but still didn't get any notify me email. Sept 19 I think.

Some observations of EVGA 3080 ftw3 ultra
  • When just letting the card do its own boosting there does not appear to be any performance difference between normal or OC bios or normal 450w beta bios or OC 450w beta bios
  • The only difference between the normal and OC bios is the fan curve
  • The beta 450W OC bios marginally improves bench marking with +100 core but runs very hot and pulls down a lot of volts
  • Card runs much hotter than I expected it given its "premium" branding and pricing. i.e. hitting 80C playing CP2077

Can we please get the original BIOS linked in this thread so we can revert?  The 3090 thread has this, but the 3080 doesn't.

I'm still waiting on a verified original BIOS from EVGA as well.

The XOC bios only adds the extra power if you explicitly run PX1 or AB and set it to +118 power.  If you don't set that in PX1 or AB you will get default bios power limit of 380W and the card will perform the same as stock\OC bios.

What are you hoping to gain from the default bios?  just wondering.

That's with it locked at 1.1V and clocking 2,235-2,265mhz sustained for GPU1 and GPU2 tests, the average is skewed by the CPU test down clocking the gpu to 1,800mhz.  Power solidly above 400w, but not riding the 450w limiter, just tapping it.  Being outside in ~0 degree (C) temps helps with the power consumption I think, card started at about 20C and ended at 26C, hybrid with top mount push pull fans. Timespy is a light load for this card.

I've seen a peak of 485w in Furmark at normal ambient temps.

Are increased cooling systems needed for overclocking?

Just stick your PC outside if you live in a colder area.
