I am not overclocking my CPU  and my Seasonic focus gold 750 psu is shutting down on a basic power test with the FTW ULTRA 3080.

That's one of the known problem PSUs with the 3080 and 3090's...

I understand, I'm just making the issue I'm experiencing clear. I don't think it's too much to expect for my PSU to work with this card.

What power supply are you using?

The transient power spikes are no joke with the 3000 series GPUs.

Some PSUs just plain handle them better than others do.

So. Not too pleased with this new card to say the least. Running stock speeds. Fire up TimeSpy...runs for 10-15 sec......computer turns off and restarts. ANY game I run does the exact same thing....Latest drivers 456.71. Switch on the card is set for Normal. Tried setting a custom VR curve in Precision X1 (1.1.0.2) to under 2000 MHz, cause i saw that it will crash is it goes over that. Curve does not take, and fails every time. This never happened with my 2070 Super.

Thoughts on what this might be? Is there a log file a can run to find out whats causing this? I have no problem returning this card if I cant find out whats wrong.

Sorry if I missed it in the thread, but is it a BSOD (blue screen of death) crash or the computer just completely shuts off?  Is it a 3080 or 3090?

This is why I went with a little higher psu due to these power hungry components nowadays.

I had that problem with my 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra...switched to a 1000 watt power supply and that solved the problem. Quality power supplies do sometimes go bad, but IMHO you need some good margin in the power rating, even if the supply if normally working ok. The two Seasonic 750 watt supplies that both gave me this problem are working fine in my non-gaming pc's.
