Problem is 100% on EVGA side. I have at my home 3080 ftw3 ultra and 3080 tuf, both paired with Seasonic prime 850w platinum in two different pc's. The one with ftw3 ultra shuts down randomly, so i suspect that's faulty psu, and switch to other pc. Guess what, second pc starts to shut down also. With 3080 tuf not a single problem. Also i want to mention that pc with ftw3 is less power hungry r3600x, no rgb, air cooler, 2nvme drives... The other 5800x, aio, lot of rgb, 2nvme and 2hdd. So evga want to tell me that Seasonic have problem? 😂 😂 Prime platinum is one of most reliable and among the best psu lines in the world. 850w is more than enough to power any of 3080 cards except bad ftw3 ultra. And cherry on top is that ftw3 have one rattling fan when mounted horizontaly (imagine 90% of people mount like that) and it disappear when put vertically in vertical mount bracket. I put ftw3 on sale, and never buy Evga again, especially after email response to undervolt card (i suppose i bought something that should work out of box), then to balance fans with my fingers (😂😂😂), to change psu (more laughter) and they never took responsibility for their bad product. Shame and goodbye!!!!

Three things...

1. Always make sure you don't have a lot of misc. stuff that's not need. Like oh I don't know coupon savers in the background.
2. Get rid of stuff, get to cleaning out pop up blockers, underwear hiders etc.
3. Delete old drivers.

Okay 4. Stop complaining because your stuff is so full of stuff it causes conflicts. I've never had a problem with a new release of hardware because I keep my system free of junk.

You tell em Vip and along with that quit cheaping out on the psu it all starts at the wall socket ya know. Lolz

Just to throw my hat into the ring too on this issue. I have my 3080 FTW3 Ultra since last December but only recently started to notice reboot issues as I haven't been using my PC much at all. My system was built in 2018:
Seasonic Focus Plus Platinum 750W
i5-8600K @ 4.8Ghz with 1.28v
Gigabyte Aorus Z370 motherboard
2 x SSDs
I've used the Seasonic recommended cable configuration from power supply to the card. I use my PC for sim racing and started to get random reboots playing Assetto Corsa Competizione, curiously the game would always stutter a bit before the reboot happened. Power limit is set to stock 100% in PrecisionX and I'm running the latest firmware on the card. No problem on any other sims, I'm guessing its because ACC is heavy on GPU and CPU resources. Today I used ddu to uninstall the drivers in safe mode and re-install the Nvidia driver and all appears to be ok, but reading this thread does not fill me with confidence. A quick question for those who have RMA'd to Seasonic - do you have to return your PSU first or do they send out the replacement? (I'm in the EU btw). Thanks

I replaced psu Seasonic prime platinum 850w for newer one using advanced RMA. You need to contact Seasonic and after they approve RMA, you need to pay collateral of 75 euro on PayPal. When recieve new one, send old psu. After they receive your faulty psu they will send your money back on PayPal. Service centar is in Germany. All procedure takes about a month from Serbia, i think it is less if you are in EU, cause there is no customs and other stuff that prolong shipping in both ways.

Thanks for the reply, that is very useful. I did email Seasonic but they suggested a number of troubleshooting steps including undervolting my card. It seemed to be a canned reply too as they were talking about Nvidia FE cards and I clearly mentioned evga in my email. I am not happy to undervolt, particularly if their PSU line is at fault. In fairness they did suggest an RMA if my problems continued which I will do.

A shut off/restart indicates that the power supply can't handle it, or the video card is being pushed too high (usually overclocking - I've actually had this happen on my 3090 FTW3).

Test in another computer (friends/repair shop), test a different power supply.

If you cannot do either, RMA the card. If the problems persist, RMA the power supply.

Well im going to assume its not a PSU issue, as im not overclocking. 650 is recommended for the 3080. Im above that. Ill see if I can wrestle my daughters PC away from her to test.

No, per Nvidia 750 watt PSU is the minimum recommended not 650. Depending on its age and how hard it has been stressed your 750 may not have the capacity with which it started. I would make sure if it's connected to an APC that the APC is rated for 800 watts plus. If you don't have an APC a 1000 watt APC which conditions your power would be a good long-term investment for this system and its replacement.

Some people have had success with 650 watt PSU but an i9 at high clock speed is nearly the worst case scenario for total system draw. The PSU market is so constrained right now I would try to buy an 850W or 1K W Gold or better PSU and sell yours used on Ebay. Someone will probably buy it.

If you're not willing to upgrade your PSU I would start by under volting your CPU, if that eliminates the problem your PSU can't take the load and I would RMA the PSU.

Per nvidia yes, but this is an EVGA product with a different cooling system and a custom OC applied to the card. Hence, 750w minimum

I have a Seasonic X-850 and am seeing reboots in OCCT Power stress test and one game that I recently started playing. They did not offer me a newer model PSU they said I could pay the $75 to do the Advanced RMA but it would be the same model PSU I have now except refurbished. They did mention it depends on stock and they could ask if they could get me a more up to date one, whatever that means but I am not hopeful. I am now researching other brands to see what I can get in terms of 1000w.

I've heard very good things about Super flower. Will check that one out and I like that its Flat Ribbon Modular, should help with cable management. Buut the Newegg reviews don't seem to be very good and if RMA is needed it has to go to Taiwan.

I have a seasonic 1000w powering evga 3080ti with 5900x on asus x570-i and 3600mhz RAM.  Currently I have my card undervolted/ overclocked and it runs great with no issues. During intense gaming my gpu doesn't hit over 62 degrees in temp.
One curious thing I noticed is that it can't pass an MSI oc scanner.  It causes a computer shut down during the scan so it's a bit odd.  Makes me wonder if this card has issues that I don't know about.  I also own and evga 3090 and asus ROG 3080ti and they all can pass an oc scanner in their pc system with similar specs other than the psu (850w).  It makes me wonder is there is something wrong with my card...................................
