Yes, only been using the 2 cables because this photo

and because my PSU only came with 2 pcie cables so that was my only option, it's the ssr-750fx model. Either way, I will reply back once I have the 3rd cable next week.

Thanks!

I contacted seasonic and they said my PSU might be affected by the issues outlined here as it was manufactured during the transition process to v2. They said to try the 3rd cable and if I still have issues to submit an RMA to get a newer PSU.

I re-arranged my Seasonic connection per recommendation from Seasonic themselves.

This is for a Seasonic 850Watt Prime Ultra Titanium paired with RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra

Funny, I actually ended up purchasing The 1000w g3 cause I figured better to be higher on the W lol
They say you want to run the PSU at 50% for optimal performance.  400W for a GPU (3080 FTW3 Ultra current max) and 120W for a 9700/10700k and you're there.  Who knows where you'll be in 3 years, maybe with a i9 or a #090 Ti.  Ideally my PSU / case will live through a hardware refresh or two.

I really don't think it's his power supply specifically. I have a seasonic 750w which is a quality brand but it's also shutting down. It's evident that a 750w PSU isn't enough for both the 9900k and 3080.

Certain PSU models can't handle the transient power spikes of the 3080's and 3090's.

Even some 850W units are shutting down....

We know the EVGA GA and some Seasonic Primes and Focus also shut down.

The ones we know work are, so far:

EVGA G2, P2, T2;

Corsair RMX, RMI, HX, and HXI.

I have an evga 750gq but i dont have my xc3 ultra yet. Are there any problems with that model?

I have a pretty old FSP Aurum Pro 850W running my my 3080 FTW3 Ultra with a 10700k with no issues. Think the secret is having the 3 separate 12v PCIE cables going into the card, with no splitting or daisy chaining.

I didn't encounter any issues with mine. FWIW, I was using 3 cables.

I talked to someone on a discord yesterday running that PSU, fwiw they hadn't encountered any issues. I can't remember which card they were on specifically though.
