I’m having the same issue with both a 750 Thermaltake and 850 EVGA P2. I doubt it’s a Seasonic issue. I’m still waiting to hear from EVGA.

I believe I recall from one of those articles about this issue with certain PSU's from 2018 that a fix was using a better-shielded PCIe power cable, but I don't know if that means there was noise issue at the pin-ends or for the whole cable, or if it's a deeper issue inside the PSU.

Seasonic sent out new cables with capacitors in them.

Reckoner has a reddit thread as well. He links a few articles:

FOCUS PLUS & ASUS GTX 970 STRIX
This combination is leading to users seeing a black screen under load. Current testing showed that using this GPU with the Seasonic Focus Plus produced higher than normal ripple when under load. The vendor said using modified PCIe cables with enhanced shielding resolved the issue.

FOCUS PLUS & Vega 56/64
System shutdown may occur when the GPU is under load. Current testing showed users can see higher than normal peak current emitted by this particular range of GPUs when under load. This triggers the PSU’s internal safety if it's a Focus Plus that came to market before April 2018.

Just wanted to share with you guys that I have an RTX 3090 FE which causes my PC to reset when playing titles such as RDR2 and Minecraft RTX after an hour or so on max settings; I'm on an AX1600i and tried replacing the PSU with an RM850X and the issue remains. Tried setting my system on stock settings and was still getting a reset. All other components were tested and system ran stable with a 2080 Ti beforehand. Like another poster said here in this thread, I believe it to be a driver issue. That or there is an issue with the GPU itself. Asking Nvidia if I should do an RMA or if this can be fixed via a driver update. Will let you know when they respond.

EDIT: I am able to play games such as BFV, Control, Death Stranding, Doom Eternal without the PC resetting itself and my cpu and ram on overclock settings. PC Specs: i9-10900k 5.1GHz, Trident Z Royal 32GB 4000MHz, RTX 3090 Founders Edition, Corsair RM850X/AX1600i, ASUS ROG Maximus XII Apex Z490, Corsair MP600 4TB NVMe.

Are you using 2 separate cables from the PSU to the 12 Pin Adaptor?

That is an absolute must, per Corsair..

Blue screen of death or just a complete power off?

It's a quick power off and then the pc boots up normally.

Contact Seasonic and see what they can do.

I am going to do further debugging later today after work by running the GPU off of a separate 600W PSU I have around the house.

It goes off as if I'd hit the switch on the rear of the PSU; no blue screen; you can hear the pop of the PSU components switching off.

I also prophylactically bought a Corsair HX1000i but with COVID it won't be here for a while.

I did. However, there is some credence to the cable theory as I had premium sleeved Corsair cables (CP-8920224) which reset my pc even faster under load with RDR2 and Minecraft RTX (they were type 4 cables).

The problem is this only happens on those titles, everything else has been running fine with the stock PSU cables. Interested in what Nvidia has to say.

It appears in some cases where it crashes it may just be a PSU issue, although a few others have 1000W+ and are still having issues, but it seems they only happen with games that use ray tracing extensively. Possibly there may be 2 issues here - an under-powered PSU is one, and the other is an issue with ray tracing.. possibly a driver issue with some sort of spike with rt that goes way beyond spec causing a crash no matter what the PSU is. Sound like a reasonable assumption?
