AMD has promised that its RDNA 2 Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards won’t suffer from stock shortages at launch - unlike Nvidia's RTX 3080 and 3090 cards. It’s been a frustrating time for buyers looking to pick up one of Nvidia’s new Ampere-based GPUs. Both the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 sold out in minutes, with buyers having to contend with bots and scalpers to get their hands on the limited stock. 
Disappointed buyers have taken to social media to vent about Nvidia’s problematic launch, and one such comment drew a response from Frank Azor, AMD's chief architect of gaming solutions. 
 
In response to the Twitter post, which saw a user complain about not being able to pick up an RTX 3090 and going on to speculate that "$10 says AMD will be a paper launch too", Azor responded: “I look forward to taking your $10”. 
 
In in a follow-up tweet he added that AMD is "doing our best to set and meet proper expectations. We are listening, learning and adapting to offer the best experience we can." 
 
Azor’s remarks imply that those hoping to pick up a Big Navi GPU shouldn’t have too much of a hard time, and that the company won’t suffer from the same stock shortages as Nvidia. While we’re yet to see for ourselves, this makes sense. Nvidia has gambled by picking Samsung to fabricate its Ampere GPUs, and there’s still uncertainty surrounding the yield of the company’s 8nm process. AMD, on the other hand, will tap into TSMC’s proven 7nm manufacturing process, so it’s unlikely to face the same difficulties. 
 
Of course, it remains to be seen how AMD's Radeon RX 6000 GPUs will compete with the Nvidia RX 3080 on price. However, performance wise, it looks like AMD might give Nvidia a run for its money. AMD is expected to showcase its RNDA 2-based Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards on October 28. 
 
This actually what I suspected. TSMC can crank out more acceptable AMD GPU chips than Samsung can for NVIDIA GPU chips. 

We'll see how that goes...

When AMD launched the RX 5700 lineup there were lots of cards available, lots of them were sold too

Assuming they can actually compete at the high end, I'll believe it when I see it. If it competes, the only difference is instead of 300 cards on ebay there will be 3000 assuming the bragging about not paper launching isn't just posturing which it most likely is.

I for one hope BigNavi does well, at least match, or outperform the rtx_2080Ti(and do well with 4K) at $500 and a great launch, would sell like hotcakes....   Id buy my first ATI, I mean AMD gpu in over 20 years, would match my Ryzen setup quite nicely

Even if they can't compete with Nvidia on the high end I still think they'll sell out pretty easily unless they give it a really bad price. There's a lot of desperate people looking for an upgrade, especially with winter approaching.

I used a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8GB at 4K for a long time, my EVGA GTX 1060 (fixed it with MX-4) burned out doing it so the Radeon card held the panel playing games. I even played Halo at 4K with the RX 480 and it was playable
 
now that the RTX 2080 is on the payroll gaming it is much easier then running the RX 480 into the motherboard

Well, they couldn't do any worse of a job than Nvidia has done with this launch - so it should be fairly easy task.

paper launch
A release of a product, especially a computer component, in extremely limited quantities, making it very difficult for consumers to get their hands on. The purpose of this is generally for a company to be able to say "we have the fastest chip", before they can actually produce large numbers of them.

People need to realize, similar things will happen with AMD.  Bots and scalpers will be all over those products as well.  The thing is, you might see more stock laying around cause PC gaming enthusiasts usually go with Nvidia for that extra power, features and stability.
