Do all variants of the 3080 FTW (Gaming, Ultra) have 4 POSCAPS wIth 20 MLCC setup? Or is it just the FTW Ultra?

Why not ALL MLCC like Asus though?

Because that wouldn't necessarily be better. POSCAPS are great at thermal stability, MLCCs are not. there is also a voltage issue as frequency increases. It appears the 4+20 is the best option, even the nvidia design uses that setup.

According to some people on reddit:

MLCCs also lose capacitance with age, while tantalums do not age.

I think an additional key part to note here is that polymer caps and mlcc’s provide charge sources for separate frequency ranges of your power delivery network.

So basically you get the cards with 6 MLCCs if you really love paying the ROG tax every year

Thanks for providing some information on this topic! Makes me feel better about missing out on a launch-day card.

Jay seems to think it's better. I don't know.

Jacob, thank you for this information. Was just seeing the news about other 30 series cards and got a little worried. As always, EVGA is reinforcing why I choose your products!

LOL.  Told you so.

Edit: so it sounds like they had to swap them out at the factory in Asia, not stateside.  But I was correct in that it is what caused the delay.
