So I just got my LG OLED48CX and a 40 foot HDMI optical cable. I can get everything to "turn on" (HDR, 120 hz, gsync) but the TV constantly flickers on and off. I tried every option I could think of (on the TV and in the Nvidia control panel) but no dice. I'm guessing it's the cable at this point. I have another cable (6 feet) showing up today. I'll give that a shot and hopefully that works.

FYI, below is the cable I'm using.

You have to update the firmware on the TV....

Also: that’s a crappy Chinese knockoff cable if I’ve ever seen one. Find one that’s actually high quality. Buying cables off of Amazon for these purposes is a no-no.

Get the Monster 8K hdmi cable from Walmart $44 for 15-FTW3, and there is a longer one too. most likely it is the cable, makes huge difference.  I had a few high quality cables and none worked.

I also have the 48 inch CX and I am waiting for the 3090 :|.

As for any issues with the TV and Gsync and flickering... LG is aware of it and working on a firmware to fix it, they released a beta firmware that they released to a few people to try it and hopefully soon, it will be released to the public!

Vincent from HDTVTest made a video on it.

  1. You may need to cut out a rear slot divider or it blocks airflow (some other cards needed this)

I'm spoiled by the 400a, I love that I can take them all out and have a huge hole to work with there with no thin bars blocking anything.

So I switched to a shorter 8k cable and the flickering was still there but disabling "Instant Game Response" stopped the flickering. However, I can't get the monitor to work with g-sync. I also updated the firmware, but that didn't seem to help.

I just bought a 15 and a 75 foot monster 8k optical hdmi cable. The 15 footer should be here on Friday, and the 75 footer should be here early next week. I'll report back with what I find.

Thanks for sharing this video. This seems to be my exact problem. Hopefully I won't have the problem with the monster cables I have coming, but I'll be looking forward to the firmware update. I really wish there was some way I could get the beta version of the firmware like what the guy in the video has.

So it looks like turning off "Instant Game Response" mode disables g-sync. So... I'm really looking forward to that firmware update.

The new firmware update is out, I installed and seems fine but I won't have time for testing.  it works for US, but not EU.  If anyone wants to check but be cautious that it's probably beta and not widely available yet.
