I just hope it happens sometime today or tomorrow. If I get allocated a card this week, I'm hoping to get through all the steps by Friday so I can overnight the card Saturday evening. I do most of my gaming as time allows Friday evenings and Saturdays, so hopefully I can have the 3080 in hand by the next Friday evening as I chose 2nd Day Air rather than overnight (probably stupid in hindsight).

EDIT: Never mind, wife would kill me if I paid $130 to overnight to Brea, CA. Looks like I'll have to give up gaming for a week whenever I get allocated the card :(

I'm on the east coast.  I can't justify any price over normal shipping due to the sky rocketing cost lately.  I have a backup card, so I'll live with playing low requirement games until I get mine (well, when it's my turn to send it in).

Ya I was quite shocked to see how much it would be for anything above 2nd Day Air right now. I'll just need to get it to a UPS store right away if I want to pay a reasonable price and have it in time for Watch Dogs Legion (the first of many amazing upcoming games). My CPU actually has onboard graphics (I7-10700k), just not sure what games it could reasonably play on its own. I have my PC hooked up to my living room tv and have been playing at 4k, mostly high quality. If I drop it to 1080p low just to take advantage of the onboard graphics, just wonder if the change would be too dramatic and noticeable for me enjoy (not hating on anyone playing 1080p low, I just have a 4k tv and like to take advantage of it).

$130?  Wow ya I was wondering what it would be.  I haven't checked and I don't have a UPS store locally.  I have one of those custom box places that can ship through any carrier.  They did all my shipping when I used to sell on Ebay but I haven't shipped anything for a while.

*cough*  Ya I won't be paying $130 for shipping when EVGA overnight was less than half of that for the return.  This is the big PLUS of having waited this long.  Plus I already have to add in the cost of insurance, because at this point there is no way I'm shipping what was an $800 card for step up without it.

Hope this helps anyone seeking any perspective, I was in the queue for my gtx1080 in 2016. Step 1 email arrived Fri, May 27, 2016 4:36 PM. Step 2 email arrived Thu, Aug 11, 2016, 2:38 PM. Have fun!

(edit: total of 76 days in step up line)
(edit #2: also seems my forums account registration date is the date the 1080 was announced. wonder how many other accounts are like that lol)

I'm in Florida. I got right around the same quote from UPS and FedEx, ~$130. Ended up trying USPS Express and got overnight with $550 insurance for ~$80. Still a lot, but since I chose Ground from EVGA for like $13, my impatient self talked my rational self into it. Express comes with tracking and made it all the way across the country by 10:50 the next morning. It's also guaranteed, so if they fail, you get your money back.

Yep, I paid $61.50 for my GROUND package to EVGA from Ohio. $12 for the packaging, $11 for the insurance and $38 for the shipping.. And that's just one way! Crazy stuff. Bring your own materials if at all possible. Over $100+ there and back for just ground shipping. They REALLY should mention it in red bolded text that the consumer is paying for this because the UPS lady actually couldn't believe the company didn't handle the return and told me to call them and get a pre-paid label because even she knew it was expensive LOL. I assured her EVGA wasn't going to do that for their customers and proceeded to spend 14% of the cost of the GPU on the RMA shipping.
