My Step 1 was 10/19, so I should be getting the Step 2 email sometime in the next week or two (hopefully). I'll say this... After waiting in a queue for going on 10+ months, I will never be using EVGA's Step-Up program again. At this point, I've seen multiple friends find MSRP 3080's at retailers in the last 3-ish months without even trying that hard. Being locked into the queue path -- and getting auto-downgraded to an LHR model in the midst of it -- has turned me completely off to this process for the future. I'll try my hand at the open market next time.
I would have not guessed myself step up would take so much time, and you (I mean US customers) can consider yourself happy since in the European queue, it hasn't moved a bit for months now, and the last people getting their step up taken care of were on 09/20 step 1, somewhere in May. I joined step up on October 2nd and I have absolutely no clue when it will be addressed, but my guess is that it will take a very long time and I will most likely have to wait for more than a year.
That being said, a lot of people (myself included) used step up like a backup order to get our hand on a always out of stock RTX 30xx. This was initially not the aim of the step up process. It was a chance given to people that bought end gen products (and I mean before the release of the next generation) to upgrade to the new product when it is released.
I do not work at EVGA to be affirmative but I guess they had a lot more of step up demand than on any other GPU release, and given the fact that it occurred right into the pandemic and its supply shortage, and in another addition that Nvidia really hyped the whole market releasing cards that outperform greatly the previous one... All that plus the crypto currencies mining thing that swallowed a good part of the GPU production... I cannot imagine a worst case scenario than this one. : P
Anyway, I wish you all to get your step up cards soon! : )
