Wow, some of you folks upgrade every year? Sweet Jesus, I can't wait to get my 3080 to be done for at LEAST five years.

It was just an example to illustrate a differing viewpoint.

2 and 3 are consumers, also only a stupid miner that didn't understand how mining works would thrash their cards, very counter productive.

Scalping occurred because of 4 and 5, I prefer capitalism over something like communism.

I don't think anyone is angry with EVGA making the change, well I hope not, they didn't have a choice. Personally I'm a little upset how they regurgitate nvidia's narrative, and seeming supporting Nvidia anti consumer actions, but I guess they have to fall in line or suffer the consequences, we all know how controlling nvidia is.

FYI, EVGA has been shipping a boat ton of gpu's to retailers. I use the site "pccomponentes", and they have sold thousands of cards in the last few days, most non LHR, LHR cards have only appeared in the last few days. Most EVGA cards are available to purchase right now, most with the added scalper tax. EVGA is knowing selling thousands of cards to retailers that are scalping them while people are waiting for months in their queues, right now I can still buy 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING non LHR close to retail, and more non LHR cards are due to be delivered on the 20th of next month (P/N: 08G-P5-3767-KR), why are these cards being scalped instead of going to people who have been waiting for months in the queues, and why do they have non LHR cards for scalping retailers, but then sending auto notify emails telling us they are not available anymore. This doesn't seem fair.

How is it anti consumer, when they are doubling down on the demographic for the actual card? They want the cards in the hands of gamers so they created LHR to deter miners.
People are trying to make NVIDIA the enemy when in fact it's because the increase in MINING and the Pandemic both hit at the same time.
I remember in 2017 when mining was on a rise, 1080ti were being sold out everywhere, but at time there wasn't a semiconductor shortage (which is affecting every industry right now)  so it leveled out within a few months.
As for reselling, the only people who would buy an non LHR over a LHR, would be miners. Which I agree they all should pay 200% for using these cards.

I'm guessing that EVGA had pre-existing contracts with retailers before they switched over to use a queue, but idk.

Honestly the economics of profitability of a 3080 GPU mining rely fairly heavily on resale after mining with it, so the market for used non-LHR cards around the 4000 series isn't going to be a huge price difference compared to LHR cards, because there's not as high of a demand from miners, as well as there is a flood of cards from miners, who are trying to sell their wares in order to buy new cards. Sep. 2nd, the day after NVIDIA'S announcement, I bought a used 2080Ti for $500 for example. My dumbass also sold it for $600 days later, not understanding what was gonna happen with 3080 stock.

Edit: Also, with ETH moving to proof of stake, there is a strong degree of uncertainty in future GPU mining profits, which means there could potentially be a rush of miners selling off their cards to try to beat the inevitable crash of their cards value once there's nothing left to mine with it besides a high electric bill.

This is a joke right???? They want cards in the hands of people with MONEY. You are just a walking talking wallet to them, that's all, next you will tell me they hate miners, they just hate making tons of money.

Nvidia couldn't keep up with demand due to many factors out of their control.

So their solution was to make mining graphics cards (CMP), it wasn't just wafers and silicon causing supply constraints, there were also substrates and components supply constraints, so mining CMP's cards were taking these components that could have been used in another GPU, like a 30 series card, so their first move was to further reduce supply.

What happens when mining isn't profitable?
People sell their cards, tons of cards hit the secondhand market and saturates it, this leads to a reduction in price and great opportunities for people looking to buy a card for cheap. Nvidia realized after the last bear market that people were buying cheap secondhand cards, nvidia doesn't make any money when you aren't buying their new cards, if only there was a way to stop people buying great value secondhand cards instead of new ones, o right, make a cards with no display outputs that are only useful for mining. What happens when the cards aren't worth mining on, well instead of people reusing them they just end up at the landfill, great for the environment.

Now we have LHR cards, that miners still buy like crazy because they turn a profit, because it only reduces Ethereum mining, and Ethereum mining will only be possible for a few months.

Nvidia master plan to get cards to gamers:

Reduce supply.
Try and kill the secondhand market.
Increase environmental waste.
Release LHR cards that miners still buy because they turn a good profit, miners don't those CMP cards because they have less resale value, then limit only one cryptocurrency that won't be able to be mined soon.

Either the people at Nvidia are completely stupid or there is an agenda you are not seeing.

Its a two way street, gamers with LHR cards getting less money on the secondhand market for their less desirable cards, and miners paying less for a less profitable card.

What should NVIDIA have done then? What should EVGA have done as well? If anyone has any really good ideas, I'm sure they would be interested in hearing them.

It all comes down to, "I'm not getting what *I* want! EVGA and NVIDIA have failed us all, and by all, I mean ME!"
