I've heard buzzing from my computer when I hooked it up to a bad power inverter that was putting out 150 volts. It worked fine but it was so loud people heard it through my mic! "Check your mic cable" Bro it's not the mic XD XD XD It was also a grounding issue as well, as the inverter wasn't wired correctly. I guess my point is, it's fairly normal for a power supply to whine when it's working hard. So depending on the load and how you wire it, you can get different amounts of noise. Maybe create your own fan profile to test to fan noise. Some fans can create some funky noises when they spin down real slow, and increasing the minimum speed should avoid this. I use noise canceling headphones myself :D

Edit: Maybe with the case off go sticking your ears around/directly on suspect components to try to find out what's making the noise

I was playing competitive CSGO with someone that was having a grounding issue and we could hear it through his mic about two hours ago lol. Wouldn’t have happen to be you, would it?

Yeah I might do some more experimentation with wiring later. Like connect the PCI-E power to another port on the modular power supply and see if that makes any difference. Craziest bit is I'm housing everything in a Fractal R6 with no glass panel, so it should be REALLY dampened from noise and I can still hear it.

Huh.. so thats maybe why my mic magically cleared up after a PSU swap. The more ya know.

I'm seeing the same issue on the XC3 Ultra.  The reason you're hearing it intermittently is because the fans stop when not under load, which stops the sound.

Actually it's constant for me as soon as I hit the power button and does not change whether under load or not. Pitch also stays the same. Also tried monitoring correlation of fans with noise in Precision X1 and there doesn't seem to be any relationship. I'd link a video if I could but the forum seems to remove it automatically.

Strange... I've watched mine - no noise when the fans are at 0% but as soon as they spin the high pitch will be back.

They spin cause the GPU is getting hot as it would under load.. hence coil whine would only appear under load.

For me it looks like the issue is on the 3rd fan and it whines when it spins up, is there anything I might be able to do to fix it or am I just stuck with it?

You guys with these 3080's, thanks for posting this. 2 cases already, when majority were bought by bots? I'm going to keep up with this thread. Glad I wasn't able to get one so soon.

So in addition to my experience with my previous GTX 1080 there's a chance it might just subside after a few days, weeks, maybe months....

As I said before what I'm experiencing isn't really dynamic. It's a constant beep pausing at regular fixed intervals and never really changes whether at idle or under load. I'll be curious to see if my buddy notices it on his card as he was able to order one and it's the backplate-less version of the XC Gaming.

The more I look into it the more I find, its just 1 fan in particular and anytime its on it whines. I wonder if its a bad fan but I can't hear them at higher rpms.
