No SMR drives please. It will be used mainly for video. Should it be a normal hard drive or SSD ?
 
Also do SSDs still slow down if you fill them up 70% or more ?

The cheaper option is a mechanical hard drive. I'd also recommend a backup solution that would work for you. With HD and 4K videos don't skimp on the hard drive size or you'll run out of space very quickly.

I have always been under the impression that mechanical drives were preferred for storage longevity (meaning write once and save it, not rewriting/overwriting), with WD Blacks being pretty much the top of that class. Been a while since I've used a mech drive though.
 
Having said that, ironically I have a borked 2TB WD Black sitting in my drawer.
