Intel’s top chip engineers gave a rare briefing on Tuesday about the company’s approach to designing its family of chips under the banner of Intel architecture, and they promised that good things are coming despite some well-publicized setbacks.

At their Architecture Day 2020, Intel also confirmed the launch of its upcoming Sapphire Rapids CPU platform in 2021. Sapphire Rapids will feature support for DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 and will truly be a "next-generation" data center chip with the addition of the CXL 1.1 interconnect. The company has also plans to release the OneAPI (going gold) later this year which should tie up their master plan of a unified datacenter ecosystem quite nicely.

This SuperFin thing is bugging me a little... I thought it was just a meme, but Intel literally has a 14nm++++ and 10nm++ nodes already. Superfin is the term for 10nm+++.  So in other words... Intel is on its THIRD 10nm revision, and has yet to launch a single desktop or server processor. Not a single 10nm Xeon.

Hopefully rumors of Rocket Lake this fall are accurate, but even then.... the third iteration of their 10nm node and they still haven't launched an Xeon on 10nm at all yet.

Intel has only made some smaller parts with 10nm so far

Maybe Intel can put a Cape and the words "Now with Turbo!" to their Superfriends cover box?

Ice Lake-SP is right around the corner.

Anyone who thinks Intel is going to just give up, well, clearly you're drinking too much red koolaide.
